Great video guys.

Went to the DR in late January. Just down from where you stayed. It was very chill(off season) and pretty empty (which I’m a fan of). I had an upgraded room with a private patio and semi private yard/pool access. Which was amazing for me because I like to just chill and relax and read. The foam party did happen on day at 3 and I made sure I was at the beach 🏝️ during that time to avoid hearing all of the music.

Looks like a fantastic place! Enjoy the DR!!

Great! 😄 I'm glad to see you again on DR 🇩🇴. You need to visit Bahia de las Águilas in the Southern Region, the best beach in the DR 🇩🇴. And if you want to see crocodiles you just have to visit the largest lake in the entire insular Caribbean, which is also in the Southern Region.

Was staying in Bavaro back in September. Absolutely loved it but for the 2 weeks we were there, there was a lot of seaweed being cleared each day. Aside from that though it was amazing. Playa Juanillo especially was stunning.

Thanks for the tour and the tips. We are booked for March to the Aquamarine and paying more for the time of year. Can’t wait to see your videos from La Romana. We have stayed at the Luxury Bahia Principe Bougainville and loved it. The water wasn’t as nice as it is close to a river mouth. Only downside to the resort. Looking forward to doing some travel in the future where we don’t stay at a resort.

I actually ended up going with Zoetry in Uvero Alto precisely because it has none of that "no-go here without the right bracelet' business...Hard pass. I absolutely cannot stand that, almost class division, 'preferred' club upselling garbage one encounters at most of the big resorts in Punta Cana. I paid a bit more up front, but the no reservations for din din, no bracelet policy was a huge win for me when deciding where to book; all guests are treated as welcome everywhere at any time really appealed to me. If you guys ever get the chance, try it out. Very chill resort out of the way with a lovely quiet beach. Not quite as Carribean blue as Bavarro, but exceptional nonetheless. Cheers from Edmonton. :)

Looks like a nice resort. Great info. I would prefer to relax by the pool or beach lol. I was wondering about the food, so just good not great then maybe condo would be better and eating out or cooking. Are the groceries expensive like meat and seafood. Do you have a bbq at your condo? Very interesting video. All inclusive would not be my jam at all. The $75 number ( I am assuming USD ) is really closer to $200 daily CAD for two. There are some smoking travel deals to the Carib in Nov/Dec that we are taking advantage of. Really interested in following the rest of your DR adventures. Have you noticed AirBNB price and fee increases this year?

Hi! Really informative vlog! Just a question - online it says that if you’re staying at aquamarine, you get access to the restaurants at the other Bahia sites, does this mean that you get the food and drinks included or do you have to pay when it’s a restaurant at the other locations?

Just left the Luxury Ambar, an absolutely amazing place. The staff are 5 stars throughout. Highly recommend Aquamarine or Luxury Ambar.

Also can I simply ask that people get the name of the place right. It is The Dominican Republic not the Dominican as many say. Wikipedia explains.

Thanks for your video! I loved it because you provide many details and valuable information. I am traveling to Aquamarine in three months. MY question is: Could I access the Ambar hotel facilities and beach without any restrictions? In your video I see that you do it, even without using the hotel transportation, however, I had understood that you could not access the beach of the Ambar Hotel or use its restaurants (I read it on the hotel complex's page). I would also like to go see the Hotel Fantasia of the same hotel chain, is it possible?

Beach 100%. I rarely even touch a pool until I’m leaving and need to get the salt water off before I change and head back to airport🤣

Trev, we stayed there last May. You should have checked out the disco if you thought the pool was crazy.

I would like you to go to the southern, most rural part of the Dominican Republic and visit places like Lake Enriquillo, which is the lowest point in the Caribbean and is also known for its large population of American crocodiles.

The DR always calls us back too. We prefer Sosua over Cabarete because we like the calmer water on Sosua Beach over the waves of Cabarete Beach but you really can’t go wrong with either. We’ll be there Dec to April. Hopefully we’ll see you around.

For a quieter AI experience, try El Dorado Maroma in Mexico or Sonesta Ocean Point in St. Maarten.

Very nice entertaining video. Wonder from which website could book it for 75$. I am thinking of visiting puntacana hence asking.

Great review- I do love AIs but as you pointed out the tiered levels of service is becoming more of a turn off and we try to avoid that. Disappointing to hear about bar service as that time of year you should have great service. We are totally beach people so we miss most pool parties. We have always had good to very good food in the DR . What I find is sometimes it is just a matter of luck in what your room is like and how often you get water/drink refills in your room etc. we try and look at lots of pictures and reviews and balance what people hype or complain about. We want to try another resort but have had good stays at the Sirenis in the past We are looking at January so I am hoping it will not yet be as busy…

Hi Could you please tell us if you were able to access the other pools in the big neighbor hotels and drink freely at the pool bars? they say you can access the alacarte resturaunts but don't mention the other facilities?

You mentioned that you are able to go to the other neighbouring resorts for dinner for free - are you also able to go to their resorts for late parties for free? I heard that everything basically closes around 11pm at the Grand Bahia Principe Aquamarine - thanks!

We stay at aquamarine every year. The morning beach, afternoon pool. This way you get the best of both experiences.

One question I typically have and I'll ask you: how was the room AC? Went to Secrets Royal Beach last year and my room was typically upper 70's when I was in there to 90+ when the room saw it was empty. Being a cold sleeper, i didn't really sleep much on that trip. Thanks in advance!!

Personally, I am not a fan of all inclusive resorts for a number of reasons.They are so big and sprawling, there is more of a party atmosphere, etc. I prefer more boutique hotels where the experience is more personal. Although, I do see the allure of these mega resorts! You really don’t have to think about anything! In response to the pool situation, they should have a quiet pool for people who just want to relax, chill and read a book by the pool without the club scene! Anyway, for the price you paid, I guess it wasn’t too bad. ❤

Where’s the Dominican food? I see a lot of Mexican food in not only your videos, but in general. I love live to eat what the locals are eating n supporting the locals. Was there any DR food at the resort?

Good video. Customer service in the DR is legendarily bad. Often does not affect you too much but generally speaking speed efficiency and accuracy is very very hit and miss. Punta Cana is the best that is on offer Las Terrenas the worst. Won’t stop tourists I know but worth noting.

Is tipping expected for every staff encounter (eg. asking for more towels, buying a drink at the bar, dining, using shuttles)? How much would you say one should allocate on average per day for tips?

Oh no. No necesitas dar propina si no deseas. Soy dominicano y utilizo la siguiente estrategia al inicio en el primer servicio doy la propina y trato de hacerme amigo e identifica quien me brindo el servicio, luego todo el tiempo esa persona estará pendiente a prestarme un servicio ágil. Al momento de marcharte también puede ser un buen momento para dar una propina de agradecimiento. Con 200$ pesos dominicanos o 500$ si son un grupo grande estará bien.

The algae or ep sargassum is due to climate change, coming from the Atlantic Ocean near Brazil, where on the seabed there is a forest of algae that are suffering damage due to the increase in water temperature.

I get not wanting to swim in hoards of seaweed but it is the ocean after all so hopefully No one actually lodges complaints on this.

They're a little deceptive in that their room prices are PER PERSON per night. $75 is $150 for a couple. Still not bad, but not great.

For us a 5 or 6. But we’ve been to some really great resorts so the bar is high 🤙 - Trevor

Bahia Principe is a pretty reputable resort. Generally good and consistent food. You get real value! Luxury is more like the Ambar which is sedate. If you want to stwp up go Majestic Elegance/Mirage and then moving up is the Excellence Resorts. Definitely there are worse.
