    Thanks for sharing your perspective. We understand that it can feel like the system is designed to keep us tied to traditional living and associated costs. However, living in a caravan or motorhome can provide more freedom and a simpler lifestyle for many people. While there are still rules and regulations to follow, they exist to ensure safety and order for everyone. It’s important to find a balance that works for you and to explore the various options available for alternative living. Many have successfully transitioned to this lifestyle and found it fulfilling.

    Surely just getting a motorhome and parking it on a quiet street is the cheapest way of doing it - in other words doing the 'van life' option. You can get half decent transit van conversion for 15k. Personally, I'd get a ''stealth' van - a normal looking van from the outside but fully equipped on the inside- this makes you less conspicuous. I'm not sure how legal this is, but I know that people do it full time.

  • @FreedomSeekers-FS

    @FreedomSeekers-FS

    Thanks for your comment! Van life can be an appealing option for many due to its flexibility and lower initial costs. However, there are a few things to consider: - Legality: Parking a motorhome or stealth van on a street for extended periods can be legally tricky. Many areas have regulations against overnight parking or long-term stays in vehicles. - Facilities: Living in a motorhome or van often means limited access to amenities like showers, toilets, and cooking facilities, which can be challenging for long-term living. - Security: Stealth vans can be a good option to stay under the radar, but it's important to consider safety and security. - Comfort: Full-time caravan living in a designated site often provides more comfort and stability, with access to utilities and a community. Ultimately, the choice depends on personal preferences and circumstances. Thanks for watching and sharing your thoughts!

    In the UK the planning system is the main cause of the shortage of, and expense of, housing. Residential caravan sites could provide vast numbers of homes very quickly if permitted. If building housing, converting to housing, or simply living in a caravan etc was allowed without needing any permission being required (as was the case until just 70 years ago), i.e. a proper free market was allowed to operate, all demand would be supplied and competition between suppliers would result in lower prices, increasing value for money and innovation.

    Thank you for sharing your thoughts! The planning system does play a big role in housing availability and cost. Allowing more residential caravan sites could indeed offer a quick solution to housing shortages. It’s a complex issue, but increased flexibility could help many people.

  • @FreedomSeekers-FS

    @FreedomSeekers-FS

    20 күн бұрын

    Hi there! Thanks for sharing your thoughts. It's true that finding places to stay overnight can be challenging, and we understand your frustration. One of the reasons for the increase in "no overnight stopover" signs is because some people have not been considerate of the environment, leaving rubbish and improperly emptying toilets. This has led to stricter regulations to protect these beautiful areas. We always encourage responsible camping to help maintain access to these spots. It's important to respect local guidelines and clean up after ourselves to ensure everyone can enjoy these locations. As for the cost of eating out, it can indeed be expensive, but there are many ways to enjoy affordable and delicious meals while on the road. We've found that cooking our own meals and exploring local markets can be both fun and cost-effective. Thanks again for your comment, and safe travels!

  • @FreedomSeekers-FS

    @FreedomSeekers-FS

    20 күн бұрын

    Hi there! Thanks for your comment. It really does depend on whether the site is designated as a holiday park or a residential site, as the rules can vary significantly between the two. Are you referring to a holiday site or a residential site? Knowing this can make a huge difference in understanding the specific regulations and how long you can stay. If it's a holiday site, you might need to show proof of paying council tax to confirm that you have a permanent place to live. 😊

    @@FreedomSeekers-FS A lot of HOLIDAY parks are open 11 1/2 months a year and I have been told by the park managers you only need to leave the park for the 2 weeks it’s closed Also I know people are living full time on these parks or do the children really go on holiday in their school uniforms

  • @FreedomSeekers-FS

    @FreedomSeekers-FS

    20 күн бұрын

    It's true that many holiday parks are open for 11 1/2 months a year, and some people do manage to stay there almost full-time. However, the critical question is whether they are doing it legally. For holiday parks, the static caravan should not be your permanent place of residence; it's meant to be a holiday home. This means you need to prove that your permanent residence is elsewhere. The requirement to leave for two weeks and showing proof of paying council tax for another residence are part of ensuring the caravan is used for holiday purposes only. So, while some people might be living on these parks full-time, they should legally maintain another permanent address. 😊

    England is decidedly motorhome unfriendly, Scotland less so but I believe there’s been some pushback there due to the popularity of the NC500 & people abusing the freedom by emptying toilet cassettes in streams etc. France is entirely the opposite with a lot of towns offering free aires which have essential facilities (one I stayed in even had free electricity but that was 6 years ago).

  • @FreedomSeekers-FS

    @FreedomSeekers-FS

    2 ай бұрын

    Thanks for sharing your perspective! While the cost of a seasonal pitch may seem high at £10 a night, it's important to consider the overall value it offers, especially in comparison to other accommodation options. In North Devon, where rental prices can be steep, a seasonal pitch provides a more affordable and flexible living arrangement for those looking to enjoy the beautiful surroundings on a budget. It's all about finding the right balance between cost and convenience for your lifestyle. Seasonal pitch prices can vary significantly depending on location and amenities offered. While £280 a month may seem comparable to rental prices in certain areas, it's worth noting that seasonal pitches in other regions, such as Scotland, may indeed be more affordable.
