മൂടൽമഞ്ഞ്, അതിനാൽ ഹിമവദ് ഗോപാലസ്വാമി ബേട്ട എന്ന പേര് ലഭിച്ചു (ഹിമവദ് എന്നാൽ മൂടൽമഞ്ഞിൽ മൂടപ്പെട്ടിരിക്കുന്നു). പതിമൂന്നാം നൂറ്റാണ്ടിൽ പണിതതെന്നു പറയപ്പെടുന്ന ഒരു പഴയ കോട്ട കുന്നിൽ ഉണ്ട്. കോട്ടയ്ക്കകത്ത് ശ്രീകൃഷ്ണ പ്രതിഷ്ഠയുള്ള ഗോപാലസ്വാമി ക്ഷേത്രമുണ്ട്. ക്ഷേത്രത്തിന്റെ ഗോപുരം ഒറ്റത്തടിയുള്ളതും ചുറ്റുമതിലിന്റെ ചുവരിൽ കിടക്കുന്നതുമാണ്. മുഖമണ്ഡപത്തിന്റെ മുൻഭാഗത്തെ പാരപെറ്റ് ഭിത്തിയിൽ ദശാവതാരത്തിന്റെ (വിഷ്ണുവിന്റെ അവതാരങ്ങൾ) ശിൽപം അടങ്ങിയിരിക്കുന്നു. ഗർഭഗൃഹത്തിൽ ഒരു മരത്തിന്റെ ചുവട്ടിൽ ഓടക്കുഴൽ വായിക്കുന്ന ശ്രീകൃഷ്ണന്റെ വിഗ്രഹമുണ്ട്. ഇടത്തെ കാൽവിരൽ വലതുവശത്ത് ചാഞ്ഞുകിടക്കുന്ന വിധത്തിലാണ് ശ്രീകൃഷ്ണവിഗ്രഹം മനോഹരമായി കൊത്തിവച്ചിരിക്കുന്നത്.
A towering hill in gorgeous settings, Gopalaswamy Betta (hill) is located around 16 kilometres south-west of Gundlupet. 4,770 feet are added to its height above sea level. Additionally, it has been known as Dakshina Govardhanagiri. The name Himavad Gopalaswamy Betta (Himavad means covered in mist) refers to the appearance of clouds and mist around the hill's summit. On the hill lies an old fort that was allegedly built in the thirteenth century. The Gopalaswamy Temple, a shrine to Lord Krishna, is located inside the fort. The temple's single-tiered gopuram is supported by the enclosure's compound wall. Dashavatara's sculpture is located on the parapet wall of the mukha mantapa's facade.
