On Mar.5th,1963, singer Patsy Cline died in a plane crash! Four days later, on Mar. 9th, my 44 year old mother passed away from cancer! That summer, at age 17, I took flying lessons at the Blairstown, NJ airport, with a fellow student pilot, 16 year old Steven Crawford! He was able to complete the course first & 'soloed'! Weeks later, he crashed the training plane (Piper Cub) & was killed! I took this as a 'sign' & never finished! I'm 78 now!

@@caesarvalentin6332 I never bought into the suicide theory personally. I researched his life a fair amount and everything I've ever come up with from personal accounts of those who knew him at that time said he was in high spirits and looking forward to the future and was actively planning a return to roots comeback. I think it was neglect that got him killed, I agree that he should have topped off with fuel before his last flight, I think he simply got up there thinking he had more fuel than he did and when he didn't he simply couldn't operate the oddly designed fuel selector valve quick enough, seeing as he was flying to low to correct himself that's what ended his life.

It's not so much that he was unfamiliar with the aeroplane, more he could not cope with the conditions he encountered. He probably entered a classic "graveyard spiral" which is caused by inexperienced aviators looking at the horizon in overcast conditions, rather than trusting the aircraft's artificial horizon. The natural horizon will mislead the flier into thinking he is flying straight and level. As he imperceptibly drops a wing it is inevitable that he will begin a gentle turn, imperceptibly at first. That will drop the nose and increase airspeed which he very probably will notice. If he simply pulls back without correcting the turn he is doomed. The turn will tighten, the nose will drop, airspeed will increase and he will pull the nose up again. If this process repeats a few times the aircraft will follow an ever tightening ever accelerating descending corkscrew until the inevitable. Kennedy only had about 50 hours and that included about 40 of training and he had never encountered misty conditions over water before.

Berry Berenson was a photographer. Her sister Marissa is an actress and model. Berry was also married to actor Anthony Perkins. Samantha Smith was merely used by her father to further his own political ambitions. He too was killed on the same flight as she. Cassie Gaines was Steve Gaines sister and a member of Lynard Skynyrd’s backup girl singers group The Honkettes. She too was killed in the same crash that killed her brother and Ronnie Van Zandt. Those so-called “heroes” of Flight 93? They’re not heroes! They were so preoccupied in taking down the terrorists that none of them thought about taking over the controls of the plane or at least ordering one of the terrorists at gunpoint to fly the plane and notify the nearest airport! And there was Thurman Munson, star catcher for the New York Yankees: On August 2, 1979, Munson died in a crash while practicing landings in his aircraft atAkron-Canton Airport. The Yankees honored him by immediately retiring his uniform 15,and dedicating a plaque to him in Monument Park. There was also Roberto Clemente, arguably the greatest right fielder in Pittsburgh Pirates history. Clemente spent much of his time during the off-season involved in charity work. When Managua, the capital city of Nicaragua, was affected by a massive earthquake on December 23, 1972, Clemente (who visited Managua three weeks before the quake) immediately set to work arranging emergency relief flights. He soon learned, however, that the aid packages on the first three flights had been diverted by corrupt officials of the Somoza government, never reaching victims of the quake. He decided to accompany the fourth relief flight, hoping that his presence would ensure that the aid would be delivered to the survivors. The airplane which he chartered for the New Year's Eve flight, a Douglas DC-7 cargo plane, had a history of mechanical problems and it also had an insufficient number of flight personnel (the flight was missing a flight engineer and a copilot), and it was also overloaded by 4,200 pounds (1,900 kg). It crashed into the Atlantic Ocean off the coast of Isla Verde, Puerto Rico immediately after takeoff on December 31, 1972, due to engine failure. A search and rescue effort was immediately launched, led by the USCGC Sagebrush. A few days after the crash, the body of the pilot and part of the fuselage of the plane were found. An empty flight case which apparently belonged to Clemente was the only personal item of his which was recovered from the plane. Clemente's teammate and close friend Manny Sanguillén was the only member of the Pirates who did not attend Roberto's memorial service. Instead, the Pirates catcher chose to dive into the waters where Clemente's plane had crashed in an effort to find his teammate. The bodies of Clemente and three others who were also on the four-engine plane were never recovered. Wiley Post was a famed American aviator during the interwar period and the first pilot to fly solo around the world. Known for his work in high-altitude flying, Post helped develop one of the first pressure suits and discovered the jet stream. On August 15, 1935, Post and American humorist Will Rogers were killed when Post's aircraft crashed on takeoff from a lagoon near Point Barrow in the Territory of Alaska.
