just for a note, if you using hot glue mod, you can remove it by using isopropyl alcohol (ipa 99%).. try it.. your hand sanitizer that contain alcohol also can do, but it will be such a waste..

i will make it clear: there are three things acoustic-wise presented in keyboards: echo of all flavours (resonance), rattle (also all kinds of it) and scratching. first one is about adding weight and filling empty space with dense material- all these goals are perfectly achieved by Kilmat. rattle is just a loose fit of mechanical parts- make it tighter. scratching is a lack of lube. thats it. no magic behind.
I love how the keyboard hobby includes just adding random things into your keyboard until it works

For the glue mod, I guess you can tape it first, then glue it on top. You have both dampening and reversibility.

To remove hot glue, you can use Isopropyl alcohol. Just a few drops will help it release it from the plastic. Just be wary that Isopropyl alcohol can also risk damaging the colouring of the plastics in your keys and also any adhesives that were there from factory.
Your videos always release around an hour before my online class starts, so it's fun to watch during class :D
This video is a good watch! An idea I wish to see from more channels like yours, is you guys kinda doing mod guides for prebuilt(?) keyboards, like how to improve the Corsair K100 sound/feel or other brand keyboards people are likely to have if they havent got a custom keyboard. Not sure if its a good idea but it's something I'd like to see.
I think I'll do the tape mod, the o ring mod and the silicone mod. I also have to do the stab mod and lube the red switches. Those are the ones I liked so far, the ones you did in this video were interesting to watch, but I am old and didn't hear much of a difference. I want my RK TKL to be very quiet and smooth feeling ( so the o ring mod might be to bouncy, it might have to go away). Great video and thanks for the testing and information, keep up the great work 🙂

The moment I saw kinetic sand, I turned completely skeptical.
I think using the Sponge Rubber Foam Tape from Home Depot as the keyboard’s feet may produce wonderful results, they are also very sponge which is good for fitting it into tight spaces for acoustic control yet it’s very economical, I hope you can do a test it in the future 😊, love your wonderful channel ❤
Thank you for the video! I have been looking for mods for my keyboards. 😂❤
That phantom keyboard sounds so good stock it's unbelievable for the price haha great vid
Deskmats are usually in the $18-$25 range, and you can get one under 10! If you're just broke enough to get a mecha keeb, you're probably just broke enough to get a deskmat too! It's basically furniture for your furniture too
This is really fun and very entertaining as always. I am so intrigued to do a O ring mount but im not sure what kind of budget keyboard should i use and it has to be plate mount? Im a little confused.. thanks Betty ❤❤❤
omg your channel grew so quick i was around at 80k and now its at almost 1mil!! congrats

Try desk mat material inside the keyboard, that should be interesting.

I think I saw that movie before, we might need to go deeper
I did try to fill up the bottom of my keyboard with liquid latex/mold rubber (was made for putting under socks for to make it anti slippery. Putting on thin layers and let it dry and fill more on. After 2 weeks it was all filled up. It got more weight and sounds better.
I prefer to just wrap the pcb in masking tape instead of press n seal. It's safer, and it also could help a lot depending on the board. I used it on one of my keyboard and sounded more poppy.
Sticking the kind of dampening you would use in car doors etc for sound dampening also works good to dampen the sound of the chassi. It will make it sound more solid. But it can be a pain to remove if needed. I think its some kind of butyl rubber.
The tape spacebar mod actually works pretty good!
Hipyo did a long term review of his play-doh keyboard and it completely rusted his PCB. I definitely DO NOT RECOMMEND.
Cool ideas thank you. ❤
Hey! Looking for recommendations. Would you recommend MDA or XDA keycaps? I'm looking for a typing and gaming profile, leaning more on the gaming side. Or recommend me other profiles for my needs. Thanks! By the way, keep up the great work and this video helped!
Dang. Had my fingers crossed for the sand. 😂 I've been holding onto nearly 5 lbs of it for a few years now and idk what to do with it. Too cool to toss and too messy to ever take it out the bag without a reason. 😅
Id love to see some of these mods done! - Molding putty spacebar fill - Silicone pour case fill - Super Sculpey clay case fill - Caulk case fill then flattened - Brass plate as a weight, cut to size with a hacksaw - MLV - Holee mod with shrink wrap - Carpet padding (recycled denim, etc)
got to try them all at once
try sound dampening foam for studios or for offices (like those spike thingies that you put on the wall to reduce reverb) cement clay (but i think its just the same as with playdoh silicon keycaps (and how to make them)
Playdo was the best one in improvements , plus O ring , plus tape
the press and seal def works o cant wait for my birthday
Hey there! I like gaming and would like a keyboard that is fit for gaming, with a nice sound, at around the 120$ price point. What do you recommend? Anyways, amazing video! Your videos always help!
generally, say in your school's gym, you can often find some cork plates on the wall, it is actually a great sound dampener!
Hey, Just a question, but i did the tape mod in the spacebar and it sounds SO much better but would it work the same for all the other keys with stabs? i want to try with the backspace or shift and stuff
The influence of Hipyo is undeniable
One mod that I want you guys to try out (that I do myself) is to put on rubber orings. Not what you think: you use the orings in between the gaps on the screws of any two piece case keyboard, like on a Q1. Personally I find this to be a bit better than the tape mod, not necessarily easier though as it can take time to fidget the screws into place and stretching the orings onto it without losing the orings since they tend to fling if you don't hold onto them properly. On my Q8 it has changed the sound slightly, though I can't explain properly why that is, but there is now a tiny air gap that lets some of the sound escape, and pairing that with something like a sound dampening plate (like kilmat) honestly made the sound side of things more refreshing. It isn't too loud, but at the same time it has a different sound signature that I really love. On top of this I use pe foam pads, a PC plate and red jacket V2 switches. It is VERY satisfying to listen to, type and game on. edit: there seems to be confusion about what I have tried to say. This is supposed to replace the force break mod.

I have some cork shelf liner I've wondered about putting in a keyboard, it's much thinner.
For the Gummy O-Ring, is it possible to do that for a 100% layout? I have the Keychron K10 Pro and that mod sounded amazing
You should try the little sticky foam pads you put on the bottom of furniture. Might be better than the t-shirt
Hi friend, after customize my GMMK Pro for a while, now I'm tired and back to stock keyboard. Can you suggest some good pre-build around $200-300? Does Filco still good in 2023? Thank for your help.
I used a t-shirt for my old ass logitech g series gaming keyboard as a desk mat to dampen the sound some, it worked sort of. Though, there's no real fixing blue switches x'DDD
Heads Up for all yo Play Doh freaks out there. *DONT do it!* it will dry out, shrink, crack and probably corode your pcb
I love the kinetic sand and play doh mods myself 🥰👍🥳💪
I just filled my space bar with double sided foam type tape and instant improvement.. I have a redragon keyborad so not the best out there but this mod worked for me like a charm with the space bar only.
Sound dampening is all about mass, that is the sorcery behind t. If you want to know more just check some videos on acoustics.
man what kind of crazy hot glue are you using? I always use a hot glue gun when modding or wiring my comp because creates a temp hold I can just peel off. maybe the budget glue sticks I have may even function better because they're more squishy and less adhesive?
I used two small wads of removable mounting putty in my space bar and it killed the clack dramatically. Any more than the two pieces and it weighed the space bar down enough to overwhelm the key switch spring and slow down the up-travel.
do you think that jixian brown switches are good if you have a tight budget?
If you are to do the clay, use the non-dying/non-hardening type of clay like Plastelina's have
My fav combination Keyboard: Rk61 Switch: Akko radiant red (lubed)
fell in luv with ur voice
What switch type was used for the phantom+?
Hey Betty I have a request i would love for u to try and build the epomaker ek68 it’s a great gaming board and I suggest it!
what were the switches on the Tecware Phantom?
hi im thinking of getting a new keyboard what keyboard do you recomend?
Im just asking, which keyboard brand is better; epomaker or keychron?
Can you try expanding foam as filler on spacebar? Im also thinking of plastidip as sound deadening inside the keyboard shell.. i would really appreciate ifnyountry and test it
You should try the RK 61 Pro and or the RK100 Pro they are both CNC Aluminum
were did you get the white and purple keycaps.
Playing with the play doh brought me back to when we would have clay in school but it was different colors and you would take a little piece of each and roll it into a multi colored ball lol
Is it good to use tape on all your key caps?
What about doing some sort of liquid rubber to dampen the bottom of the case?
Maybe you can put a sound meter next to the keyboard to show the result in dBs
is there a way to turn the razer analog v2 tkl keyboard wireless?
Is using lubed switches and keycaps enough for deeper sound?
Couldn't help but notice that you also appear to be a knife enthusiast? I saw a Civivi and a WE Banter in that video.
What switches did you choose for the Tecware board?
I GOTTA USE THIS! GREAT VIDEO!!!!

Just found your channel 🎉
How large should the gummy O-ring be in terms of diameter and thickness? If to mod 75% pcb
can you mod the vissles v84 please?
What did you mean by “sand down the usb-c port” on the rk61?
"Tecware Phantom, one of the best stock keyboards I've ever heard..." I just can't with this.
I'm amazed you found something at Michel's for only 3$ I live in Florida so prices can be excessive sometimes. Yet still I'm surprised. The other day I went to Walgreen's, they have caramel candys for 38 cents each I almost started crying. I probably looked insane, a full grown man hysterical praying, holding up the check out line, I shouted "Thirty eight cents WOOOO" Just completely taken back to have found a product worth less than a dollar.
I'd like to suggest putting blu tack on the space bar to make it sound deeper.
i think if i remember the update on the playdoh. You really should not use it because it can corrode your PCB because of the moisture of it.
I used 10 layers of masking tape and filled the gaps between the stems of my spacebar. Made it sound snappier and way thockier in my CIY Tester 68. Hope you can try to see how it works for you

do these work with membrane keyboards?
If I close my eyes, I can imagine Mrs. Incredible talking about keyboard mods. I like your content. Shout out to Hipyo.
What else can i yse instead of press n seal ?
What if you taped the inside of the spacebar first, then put the glue in so it's easier to remove?
would putting tape and then hot glue on the spacebar make it removable?
BRO this keyboards are so epic😊
Alubutyl is the best thing for thocky Sound. In Case and large Caps.
I really want to try out the O-ring mod on my old GK61 v1
Unbelievably speaking, Vicks VapoRub works as lube too. Believe it or not, that oily, minty lube wannabe which is actually a throat and cold medicine thing, works. My cousin tried it, and it works, but I think it won't probably last a year or something.
blue tack also works on the space bar mod
Don't tell me that's Jake from State Farm. 🤣 Man's a genius.
Love ur content keep it up never give up keep typing❤❤😊
your the reason I have a mechanical keyboard so I just want to say thanks
I wonder what using cork as a desk mat would sound like?
what cool keycaps are that on the rk61???
pe foam mod or press n seal mod?
I had some old wristwatch leather straps from my mom's watch that she got a replacement strap for, so I cut those and fit them in between the gaps of my spacebar. Honestly, best spacebar mod I can recommend anyone try if they want a thocky spacebar since you're eliminating 6-70% of the hollowness. What I used was so specific though, so something similar in density should do the trick. Best part is that it is also reversable unlike the hot glue.
Might be a silly question, but has anyone tried felt? Or painting the board with neutral cure alkoxy silicone?
4:42 i know of keyboards that cant be powered by phones, but this is the first time i seen a keyboard that can't be powered by a laptop. How much power does it need jesus.
Hi, try some uv curing resin
Hipyo did the playdough mod too and it hardens out after some time so not to great
i tape the spacebar a lot. it works
"hot glue" is actually super reversible (yeet-able in one go) but the gun is melting it too hot, the hotter it melts, the stronger the bounding.
Why not leave the tape in for the hot glue so you can remove the tape and hot glue
Hi! Can you tell me the absolute best budget keyboard? Im looking to find one, ive modded a keyboard before, and i wanna mod another. :) Thanks! ❤
