The plastic mesh bag material is called, “Vexar”. It comes in many weights and sizes. It’s used for underwater research cages, among other things.

I always love your humour. And music. One thing I'd like to add for the calipers, the step dimension. the difference between the two head parts. (the opposite of the depth gage)

Great start with Starrett & Mitytoyo (not sure about the cheapo one though) and they look like the ones I used in high school in the mid 90's too. I have a Brown & Sharpe set now. Didn't know about the blue blade or the tightening on the top of the handle versions. Figured I'd share, didn't know, unremarkable (amazing how bringing digital color calibration and use adds to the challenge), didn't know, didn't know (reminded me of french curve sets too), didn't know. Thanks for sharing!

Regarding colour swatches, I would strongly recommend getting a set of RAL and NCS swatches. both are more limited in scope than Pantone but reflect actual chemical colour possibilities from paint, powder coat and plastic manufacturers. Having worked in the furniture industry for 22 years I know first hand how Pantone is simply a hindrance for getting the right colour matches in production. The RAL system especially is the best for powder coating and wet spray lacquer. So if you are an industrial designer those are my essential colour swatches. Also, be aware that Pantone has a third system for textiles which is really useful for carpets, rugs, bags and a lot of other industrial textile products. Finally, some special materials such as variants of Corian, MDF, and oil stains come in their own limited colours so if you use any specially made materials like these then get a colour swatch set from the exact brand that your manufacturing partner has access to. I have spoken ...... all the way from Denmark :-) ... and a HUGE THANK YOU for excellent skills videos on techniques many designers seem to have lost.

Nice! Just wondering why you link to the Pantone Formula guide on Amazon? Are the mixing ratios useful to know for industrial designers? If you do print design you usually want the Color Bridge (has Pantone spot colors and CMYK approximations of each) or the Process Guide (examples of different CMYK combinations).

  • @EricStrebel

Pantone is used because everyone has one, it's a base and still has to be matched by eye, not a perfect system, but it's a start.

@@EricStrebel some eq and general sound processing can help out next time. Getting decent sound is pretty easy, as long as we have neural listening device. One that doesn't enhance base, or voice, or too heavy to be driven by the computer. Perfect sound, now that's another story 😊
