I was dating this guy who was playing it cool because he was trying not to scare me off. I watched your videos, and he was doing all the signs that he was in love, but he hadn't said it yet, and I was too scared to say it. I let things happen naturally because since your videos suggested we were on the right path, I was not too stressed. Now we are official, in love and very happy. He is still respecting my pace and doesn't try to rush any of the steps. He just lets me know when I am ready; he is ready. Was dating a man for a bit less than 2 months. We had known each other for years prior to us both getting divorces. He had hit 5 out of the 7 here. Everything was going in the right direction. Chemistry, attraction, common backgrounds with family and our adult children. Then one evening after he had made me dinner, he was confiding in me some very specific details about his childhood with his mom, and then about his ex. He told me how much trust he had in me. We were so close it was surreal. Then he left to use the bathroom and when he came back he didn't even want to hug or sit next to me as we had been. It was like a switch went off and he became platonic. We ended it a week later, but remain passing friends. Another friend who knows him and felt we would be a great couple was sad to hear the outcome and felt he may be a commitment phobe (whatever that means). I had to let it go and try not to think about the "what ifs". When you find someone that is such a good fit later in life it is difficult to see them throw it away, most likely out of fear or past treatment.

@@Mat_Shaffer I appreciate the kind words, but as a fit, healthy 57 year old woman (that didn't let herself go) who is usually mistake for being 45, healing is not difficult. What is difficult is finding a man who isn't looking for a booty call or a nurse maid. I believe many single women in their 50s can attest to the fact that healthy men in their 50s want women in their 40s and even 30s. It is disheartening to say the least. Blessings to you

@nearly somewhere I'm 68 & still looking. It doesn't get better. Most older men are looking for a nurse or a purse. All I learned from my 5 year marriage was that it's better to be alone than with the wrong person. Still hoping for a happy ending tho...just better happen soon.

Some men moves slowly. Be careful he is perfect and you're misreading him. Be a little bit more patient. My husband was a bit slow but I picked up on others areas that allows me to like him at early stages until we both grew together. I was slow too.now I am looking back at the young me. Five months is pretty short, be patient please.

My friend who is already in a long term relationship involving children says/asks these types of phrases and questions a bit... All but the last one of course. The guy I was dating had used 7 a form of 6, he didn't say I'm excited to meet my mom, but he did seem excited when I met her. He would ask me how I was feeling, but not the follow up phrase. Also during a conversation him and I had he mentioned feeling safe, feeling connected with me.... I ended our relationship due to thinking he didn't have strong feelings for me...

@@zen_mindset1 after a very toxic relationship I did a lot of self love and deep dive of knowing myself. Treating myself to massages, flowers, taking myself out to eat and talking kindly to myself. Don’t give up and know you are worthy of a good partnership 💗 it didn’t happen over night it took years and lots of self work

A BIG idea Mat is GIVING AND RECEIVING. As a mother, a nurturer, a giver I can give and give and give YET if he just receives and receives without giving back , eventually that dynamic is going to wear thin and break. An example: With my ex, I'd work my business, come home clean, fix dinner, do laundry and resented the fact he sat on the sofa and never helped. Well I asked for help but he was so used to RECEIVING he didn't know how. Now in a new relationship, I find myself at times having to hold back so my partner can give to me. In this way I'm not overwhelming him and he feels good about where our relationship is going. And the bonus - I don't feel angry/resentful

The guy I have been involved with online has said all those things plus he told me he is addicted to me...If I tell him I didn't eat or sleep he tells me I have to do it to keep healthy... Due to my own traumas I have difficulty in believing him and have tried to get him to go away (he wont) but in reality I just want him to get closer which makes him think I don't care...We are planning meeting soon so I enrolled in your course so I can lessen my chances of blowing it with him..

Tonya, I would be wary of any connection that seems to be unusually intense or very strong over a short period of time. Chances are that a very rapid intense attachment doesn't have healthy roots. I would recommend looking up "limerence" and learning a bit about that and considering if that might be relevant to your situation. I personally like how "Crappy childhood fairy" on youtube discusses this. I'd also say that if your gut is giving you the question of "is it too good to be true?" and the experience is slightly overwhelming, these are signals not to be ignored. It's valuable and useful information. Hoping for your well-being and safety. You've got this.

Looking forward

Mine did not just ask how he can help me but went ahead and booked a hair appointment for me... He has said he has so much fun with me. He wants to show me off to his people and friends Number 4 yes we have talked about it. We both have kids and we just want to have fun with our children. He asks everyone day how I am feeling. He wants to know why I feel like that especially stress in the office. He said I make him feel whole. Complete. So now that he has passed all the above, am supposed to take it seriously although I had promised myself not to fall in a relationship again. God have mercy.

What if he says the last point on the checklist, the one that you say shows that he cares _the most_ - " You bring a feeling of home and peace into my life"... But not very many of others, like he doesn't say things like: "I'm so excited for you to meet X.." " How are you feeling?"; " Why are you feeling that way?" What does it mean? 🤔

Within the first half hour of meeting and talking at a party, my man who would be my soul mate husband of twenty-five years, he knew I was the One, and I knew he was, too. For me, it's always been about "love at first sight." It has always worked for me, but I am lucky because I have a great s---t detector. When I like a man I let him in and basically - that's it!

Lucky you....I finally got lucky the same way and it lasted 41 fabulous years. He passed away several mos ago. I am getting out and meeting new people since all our friends were couples.

He says some of this and then says the word forever here and there 🤪

Specific Question: What do men mean when they say, "You make me feel like a man?" One man told me that a long time ago, who I believe genuinely loved me. Decades later, another man said it to me but I later realized he was a user / exploiter. I'm glad I have that impact on a man, but what does it mean?

I would look up characteristics of men and that should give you the answer. For the most part they like to feel like the protector and the provider. Someone who solves your problems and keeps you safe. So you must have allowed them to feel this way. Some men complain if a woman is too independent…that makes them feel like “less of a man” because they’re not sure what role to play if they feel like you don’t need them.

If someone openly shares past relationship failures like divorce, it indicates transparency. Assess their communication style, emotional readiness, and patterns of behavior. Well I guess I have only one man that I chat with often that actually says only one or maybe 2 or 3 of those 7 things. Unfortunately our lives and that chance for love has gone and passed us on up many years ago. He's happily married and a daddy of 2 little kiddos. But I do value his friendship and yeah whatever that other thing is
