I moved here last month from Vancouver, the rent hike issue in Alberta is a big concern as there is no rental hike cap by the provincial government and now with all the immigration the landlords have become extremely greedy and rent are going up just like Vancouver or Toronto. Another surprise I got after moving here was car insurance, my insurance in Vancouver was $150 per month for full coverage and here I am paying triple of it for the same vehicle and same coverage. I have shop around all insurance companies and brokers and they're now giving very hard time for new policies and have raised their insurance premiums which nobody talks about. The charm of moving here was cheap rental, gas and insurance. Rents has gone up, whatever you save on gas is now going towards the expensive insurance here so you don't save anything there. Utility bills are more expensive here compared to BC and Ontario. And to mention that Income tax here is more than Ontario and BC. Also to point out that coming from BC I felt that people are less welcoming as they're seeing so many new migrations here and this is effecting them as well somewhere. Before I used to hate Vancouver specially the ICBC and the gloomy weather but after seeing the situation here, my perspectives have changed towards BC and now I am really disappointed and regretting my decision to move here. But at this point its already done. Please note that I did all my due diligence before making the move but these stuff were never mentioned in any youtube blogs or anywhere in the news or the so called "Alberta is calling" campaigns.

I lived in Africa in an area surrounded by armed robbers, no power and limited water. We kept home after 7 pm bought all our produce every 10 days and had chauffeurs to avoid local attacks. But we were the happiest as locals are very kind. Since we came back to India, i have become scared because neighbours, taxi drivers, call centre support undercut, fight and we fear the police, law and toxic family who Gaslight us socially Personal freedom is more important than just retirement funds

I applied for a work permit 2 years ago after getting a job offer in Edmonton . After hard struggles, My application got approved a month ago and i had my visa 2 weeks ago. My dream was to come to canada. My flight was tomorrow. I’ve cancelled everything after realizing that the cost of living and rentals ,have boomed from 2 years till now, insane income taxes. I’ve changed my plan and I’m not going to Canada anymore . Living in -20+ for 5-6 months alone to save some hundred dollars in a city which its crime rate is 40% above national average isn’t worth my education , my skills and my future perspectives. Trust me, even though I’m not going and I didn’t experience life in Canada, but after what my best friends who are living there told me, Canadian dream is a joke and they are more than ready to move back to our home country.

After living in Canada for few years, I came to conclusion...Canada is not good country to live honestly😢. The reason is; long winter, low pay, no growth for people, everything expensive, and too many regulations for everything. So I personally and honestly say without any bias, if you have the opportunity to go to another country where weather is good and you get more for your education then that would be the best decision. Most people think and say, we want to come to Canada because to get citizenship. I have Canadian citizenship and my Canadian passport is expired since last 6 years, and still I haven't renewed it. So what the citizenship gave me so far nothing. Once you get old it doesn't matter if you are in Canada or back home. Whenever, I go outside and I see so many older Punjabis walking alone on side walks and then I think why their kids brought them here? It would have been better for them to be back home at least they have friends there to kill their time instead of walking alone and lonely. That is why go to a good country, where you can earn good money. Once you are old then go to your home country and live in better part of your country. When people come here the opportunities are less, and whatever opportunities are there will go to the people who are living here since 4th and 5th generations. And they are the ones here having big companies and bosses of big coroporations. You will see few big companies diversified their work force but still, you will see in their work force the numbers of immigrants are less in higher positions. People say lots of opportunities here, what opportunities? Highly educated people come here from other countries and pass the exams and go through all the hurdles to work in their professions but still don't get jobs here. The government here just want to bring immigrants so the immigrants bring their money and boost economy and increase country's population.

@@stutisharma6024 I fully agree...we need to see positives in life...I have lived in Australia for a long time but made a move to Canada as it offers more permanency in terms of PR. Now, being settled in Canada as a PR, I thank Australia for giving me those memorable years and thank Canada for giving me a land I can officially call my home...so am super grateful to God and to both Canada and Australia for what I have in life today. I would say to all here to appreciate a place in its own right and not compare it to other places as each place has its unique charm and magic...which makes it beautiful in its own space.

So it will keep going on. So no one is 100% satisfied and happy. It is like this when you get 1 rupee then you say wow! I have one rupee but after sometime you will think one rupee is not good 2 rupee would be better. So it is human nature we want more and more and better. And there is no harm in this. But I compared and suggested better options.

Check drive outside toronto region same as Alberta. I came to Regina from Toronto by bus. 3 days hardly get food shop.
