7 Things I Wish I Knew About PixInsight
PixInsight can be a very difficult program to learn, especially if you're not computer savvy. In this video I'll list 7 things I wish I would've known about sooner in PixInsight.

These guys have built the most amazing and capable post-processing program, but have failed miserably in the human interface GUI.
In NINA you can use a ''Manual filter wheel'' which is a virtual one, so that you get the filter name in the fits file.
I'm learning how to use this program now! Your insight has been wonderful.
Great Tips Peter - definitely did not know all of them! Thanks!!!
I especially like your tip to rename targets in ASIAIR autorun to keep track of filters - that's a huge help. Thanks!
The UI scaling factor can also be edited in one of their XML config files. (I did not know of F6 and spend half day diffing trough internet until I found the config file)
I'm looking to purchase Pixinsight and have been watching a lot of video's about it. Thanks Peter.. To bad I can't use my AMD graphics card to speed things up...
Nice ambient music in the background, what is it if I may ask?
The first thing I did was to make the UI scaling too big (1.2 on a 13 in MacBook). It’s has taken one day to find this solution THANKYOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!! F6 is the answer 🎉
Danke!!!!
Thanks Peter. I came to PI after resisting for a long time, and it still seems to me that it is a high performance engine with Model T Ford controls. Why they don't update the UI is baffling! Admittedly it would scupper an entire industry built around trying to understand and get it to work, but it would be nice as it could be so much better.
I’d like to know how to configure PI or PS so when I bring an image into PS I’ve been working on in PI, it won’t be 50 times brighter.

Save the file in PixInsight as 16-bit tiff. The handling of 32-bit is often done differently in differing applications.
I don't understand why you would not use UI scaling factor 1 ? Looks perfectly fine on my 4K monitor and easy to see.
A little confused about the tensorflow.dll. Where are you supposed to copy this from? When Pixinsight does an update, there is no download involved, correct? Can you show exactly what you are talking about please. Thanks.

You need workstation 3-5K. Better way is to do EAA, inexpensive computer and forget about astrophotography.

No you don't. I use a 9th Gen Intel i7 with a GTX1050 Graphics card. I used Pixinsight for months without even knowing it wasn't using the GPU. The ONLY real issues are using the RC-Astro tools like NoiseXterminator and Star Exterminator. NXT would take over a minute to run without the GPU, but StarX would take 8 minutes or more. After doing the GPU accelerator steps, NXT dropped to 10 seconds, and STX dropped to a couple minutes or less. This is on the fairly large ASI 2600MC Pro images that run about 60 MB. The rest of the Pixinsight processes are fine on even a 5-year-old computer. And as I mentioned, if your computer doesn't have a GPU then it's still going to be ok. But, next time you are ready to upgrade your computer, definitely make sure to get one with a dedicated GPU.
