It’s all what I call Thai Logic, I’ve been married to a Thai lady for 14yrs and I’m an expert on the subject lol. It’s like rainy season and Pattaya floods several times, of course this problem could be fixed but their logic is once the water drains away then it is fixed because tomorrow never comes.

The music thing will be copyright/licensing costs. In the west you'll sometimes hear very good covers done for mainstream adverts as licensing the original recording by the artist would cost a fortune.

The first time I saw a family of like 4 people on a tiny moped, all without helmets, I was pretty shocked by it. The first time I met a moped coming towards me on a sidewalk I was also a bit bewildered.. But the actual road was one way and after his delivery he was obviously not continue going the same way as the road anyore. So sidewalk was the way he chose. :P So strange, but getting weirdly used to it. And I just recently dared be a passenger on a moped, not a moped-taxi though, but a local friend of mine. I was, and still am, somewhat terrified when we drive around and I will be getting a helmet. When I said this to him he was like "nah, no need. I drive good".... XD Will still be getting a helmet if we keep going places on his bike. :P So far I love this country, from the little I've seen and felt while I've been here. But the traffic is really horrendous!

They just stack everything really high. Funny to watch. America was built with trailers. Also they play western music and Christmas music everywhere even though I was the only American around even in non tourist areas. Maybe you can do a video on it.

Some good observations. A few of my thoughts. One answer regarding the ferry traffic. Boats follow Martine rules,. not road traffic rules. As for sky train and pedestrian overpass stairs blocking the sidewalks, that in my mind is because the sky train was installed later and no money was allocated for sidewalk improvements. As for the dangerous traffic, the fatality injury rate is high for sure. I think fact helmets are required on motorbikes, enforcement is lax. To be honest some times I get so hot wearing a helmet that I can get dizzy from overheating. In any case, a helmet should be worn. But riding a motorbike wearing flip-flops, shorts, and a helmet is not really all that safe either. As for driving in Australian cities, the nanny state becomes absurd, speed cameras everywhere often seem like revenue generation rather than road safety efforts. When I left Perth after living there for two years and went to the USA, I was a road hazard! Why? Because I drove so slowly. I-5 in Califonia driving 20 -30mph over the posted speed limit is normal traffic flow. Why do people buy cover band music? Did you check the price difference? less than 1/3 of the price. Yep, that is why people buy local cover music CDs, it sounds good. For me, I like Thailand in part because of its lack of unifomity and the diversity of lifestyles. None of the wonderful inexpensive street food would be available if Thailand regulated food as we do in western culture. Just my thoughts. Good video.

You generally avoid stationary Tuk Tuks that have been sitting there a long time, those drivers are typically waiting to scam you for one big ride. The worse ones are especially those in tourist areas like the Grand Palace. They said it's going to take 30 years to put all those wires underground, but I been told they already cleaning up the main downtown areas.

My wife's family live on a small road in rural Thailand. You shouldn't really be doing more than 30 or 40 km/hr as kids are always playing out front, farm carts, dogs, chickens so on. Their dog got killed by someone doing about 80km/hr. ( I was fond of the dog and I think the only one upset by the incident). They just get out the car and wai left right and centre and everything is forgiven. Things will never change in Thailand.

My understanding why they have "cover band" music is to get away from royalty fees to the original artists (i.e., they don't have to pay the artist if someone else has their own rendition, or at least its much less than they would owe). I think this is common all over SE Asia (I noticed it in Cambodia and Vietnam as very common to hear western songs covered by locals over the air/radio and in public places. Some local expats gave me this reason which made sense).

Dude, I was in Phuket at a club, and the DJ was killing it. But it started to sound like a live band was mixing in with the DJ, I recognized the Beyonce song playing, but could hear the band slowly taking over. Before the DJ could go to the next song, a full band had taken the stage and continued the mix and went on for like an hour with no break, and then seamlessly back into the DJ. Weirdest thing I had been to

Great video Keis . I found the police would fine all the farangs who had a helmet on driving carefully but forgot to take their International driving licence with them while the thai's without helmets would drive straight past. I helped a couple of ladies one day by giving them a lift and was pulled in by the police. As we were stopped getting a ticket for too many people on a scooter 3 I saw several bikes pass with the same some had more with no consequence. If you make a law it should be applied to all. I could handle it if Thai's were given smaller fines as they generally speaking have less money.

Interesting video. I wasn't aware that once you got a speeding fine you had carte blanche to drive like a madman for the rest of the day. Madness! There has to be some happy medium between over regulation (as in Oz) and the Thais laissez fare culture. I was in a rush and took a moto taxi once in central Bangkok and it was one of the most frightening experiences of my life. Insane the way the motor bike rider weaved in and out through grid locked traffic. I've used Grab bike in Saigon many times and it was no where near as dodgy as the Bangkok ride. At least the bikes don't invade the footpaths in Thailand the way they do in Vietnam.

That’s why it’s a third world country mate! Development of a country is not all about the economy, it’s about the people and their habits and lifestyle. The fact that they take 500 baht and give you a free pass to speed is all about making some money and nothing to do with safety. It is criminal to speed in uk! Thailand is just about 50-100 years behind a developed country. Education is the key! Hopefully the next generation will be smarter than the current.

I've been to Thailand many times over the years and seen it all and your listing of seven I can really relate to. I'll add 2 of my own to that list - zebra crossings that mean absolutely nothing and we ended up as pedestrians stranded in the middle of the road with cars, bikes and tuk tuks barely slowing down all around us and the other which really blew my mind was a magazine openly for sale to anyone in the general public that wanted to purchase it simply concentrated on stories and uncensored photographs of deceased people in accidents of any type, suicide cases, murders. You'd never find that in Australia where you and I are from and that I found extremely confronting. Enjoy your time back in Australia mate. Stay safe and bring the mask with you as we had over 5,000 new cases in one day in NSW yesterday. Crazy world right now :)

9:50 hei Mr smart guy, maybe that pole who has nothing attached on him, maybe once had some cables in the past, but for you was too hard to process and of course you need some waw content, probably in Australia everything is ''perfect''

Been here 4 years now,,,, worked it out pretty quick,,,there is No logic in Thailand. Wait until you buy a car and spend 5 hours + in a motor registry? Why are the utes packed SO high,,,,, cas the rules regarding trailers are ridiculous and cost more than the cost to make one? Nice editing as always Adam

More people have died on the road in one year then have died since the beginning of the Pandemic from Covid - on top of this - it is mainly young and fit people who die on the road. Thailand is a wonderful paradox for sure. I think philosophically it comes from the Sabai sabai attitude which is probably born of buddhism in some respects.

before you buy a 99baht plastic helmet that blocks your view or sits unconfortable you rather wear nothing, it wont help anything on impact. real tested helmets are expensive but should be used
