It's one of Thai dishes that were widespread to neighboring countries.

@@Mzayn671 This youtuber changed the title of video, sis. Why did you take 10 months to reply to me? The old title of this video he called this dish 'JIN JUM = JIM JUM in Thai'. Even fish sauce still use neighbor's products, but like to claim to be the origin.

In the US, rice and a chicken thigh is easily 15 dollars while in Vietnam its maybe equivalent to 3 dollars. That's why I eat ad much as I can while I'm there. Dont even ask me the price of a banh mi here bc it's a rip off...
Awesome vlog 🔥 love your Laos series ❤ keep it up 👍

The food that you ate is called Siin Joom (meat dipped in a broth) which is popular in big cities in Laos. It has been around in Laos since the 1960s. It's a variation of the original Japanese Sukiyaki that has been adapted in cuisine of several Southeast Asian countries as well. The sauce is an important component of Siin Joom. Looks good. Another popular dish is Siin Daat (meat on hot plate).

@0.21 จิ้มจุ่ม even the name on the sign matches with Central Thai words, in Isan accent it won't be "จุ่ม". How come Laotians use the tone marks like Central Thai? Actually most Laotian vocabulary has tone marks that matches with central Thai accent because you have Thai as references. Go ask any Thai if they have Lao books in the house. Claim to be the origin while still use Thai fish sauce. That's considered "Thai taste". How come your writing system matches with neighbor's accent?

Japanese Sukiyaki that has been adapted in cuisine of several Southeast Asian countries as well. ---> It is, but how come the name also matches with the same dish in Thailand with 100% matches with Central Thai accent?

@@mtha7796 Look at the sign again carefully: it's written ຊີ້ນຈຸ່ມ, and not จิ้มจุ่ม (in Lao ຊີ້ນ=meat and ຈຸ່ມ=dipped. In Thai, meat=เนื้อ) Anyway, Lao and Thai have so many similar words.

@@jimmichael276 Anyway, Lao and Thai have so many similar words. ---> Agree, but most words are in different accent. These words are 100% Central Thai accent จิ้ม + จุ่ม. Laotians like to claim Isan, my point is how come you don't use the tone marks that match with your accent? why จุ่ม?
@mtha7796

@@jimmichael276 Moreover, Lao language adopted academic words in Science, Math, Medicine, law, history, etc., from Central Thai and use them in reduced form, that's why Lao and Thai have many many similar words. If you make an effort to translated new English words by yourself, it wouldn't end up having 100% similarity. For example, CCTV, innovation, telephone, industry in Hindi (similar to Sanskrit) are seeseeteevee, navaachaar, teleephon, udyog. See? it's not 100% match. Go ask any Thais if they have Lao-English dictionary in the house.
Wendels allergic to peanut can’t be that bad if you can dip your chopsticks to peanuts and then into the pot lol
