When it's all over all these people with gold they will be bumming people that in the stock market will be very wealthy as long as they have the right stocks

Not true. It usually has a positive effect. Stock split means lower price per share. Strong company, good financials, more people can afford to buy, people buy, price goes up. I made lots of monthly from the last Apple split.

The S&P 500 will always trend upward in the long term for another 10 years or 20 years. Trend reversals over the next 2 to 5 years shouldn't phase anyone looking to grow their portfolio to hold 10,000 shares of 3 to 4 dividend-paying companies, tops.
