the cat did look very upset, actually. its ears were back, its tail was fluffed up and swishing, and the cat kept backing up. all signs of fear / distress when put together. but the ears alone are indicator enough.

Cats should not be forced to bathe. They clean themselves unless they get pooh stuck to their ass. Let them do what they're supposed to do. Humans play God too much

they mimic human speech for attention, especially food. If you're around a cat that actually likes you (purring isn't a sign it likes you) it will mimic how you talk to it. Test it out.

Oh my gosh the kittens at the end killed me with their adorableness

I had a cat who I got through a friend from their friend. I think he had formerly been in an abusive home, because he'd run and hide from even the smallest hand wave. It took me a month of sitting in front of his hiding spot and pulling him out to love on him for him to get used to me. Close to the end of that month, I noticed he'd watch me talk to him, mostly saying "I love you". After a while of watching, I think he learned how to form it because he was mouthing the facial pattern of those words. Any time after, if we were "talking" he'd occasionally mouth it, no soud, just facial movement. It was the cutest thing ever ❤

The kittens sound was the best one for me our cat had two litters of kittens. The first litter had 5 kittens the second had 4 kittens for some reason our cat trusted us so much she let us hold them whenever we wanted (with the exception of when they were nursing) but she new we would give them back when she wanted them (I think she let us because she needed a break from those kittens) but those kittens were the cutest little things we have wooden floors and while all of the kittens from the 1st litters were walking, 1 was sliding backwards all over the wood floor it was funny and I would like tl gear some more stories about your kittens (if you have any.)

My new cat(whom was abandoned and moved in to my house after I've been feeding her for a couple of months) is trilling literally all the time. My previous cats almost never did it and I thought it sounded like she's not happy. Thanks to you now I know what it means.

I've heard that the sound is just residual from infancy, used to call it's mother. However, cats use it with humans because thats the sound they learn to make to catch human attention and get something they want.

This one cat that I had was a white cat with gray tabby spots named Gary and he would not meow, but, rather, he would do this weird purr-mew combination, even when he was a grown cat. Sadly, mean dogs murdered him when he was 4 and when I was out of town (thanks, dad, for letting out the cat when I was gone...X( ) helping my mother with her groceries. He was a nice cat, too. His brother, which is still alive, is a nice cat most of the time and he is currently on one of my arms as I am typing things out and he is now almost 14. The cat that I have meows normally.

+Jan Jappie I wasn't going to say anything, but you're absolutely correct. Cat's meow NOT JUST to threaten each other, but they do communicate--especially when in heat. There are a LOT of ppl who are going to try to denounce you for that comment, I may have just staved off a few.

Okay so i just realized my senior cat (15 years old) has never trilled! She has always only meowed and purred as means of communication with me. My younger cat on the other hand (3 years old) trills very often when greeting me.

You forgot the whisper meow, when they are resting and their eyes are closed. It means "spare me of your attention and please let me sleep."

maybe it's more like "shoo" to scare flying things to take off. If they sit they can fly any direction. Once they take off they can't change that direction easily. So maybe it's easier to catch it if the cat jumps ahead of that direction. Rather then jumping at where the bird was sitting since it won't be there when cat arrives.

Demo Actually, that's what language IS--understanding a pattern of sounds and an association to those sounds to a meaning. Or do you think that dogs "understand English"? It's the same thing for dogs as for cats. Or any other set of sounds. You learned that a set of sounds in a certain order meant a certain thing also. All creatures communicate in different ways, us included. Case in point--a lot of people think "cats are dumb compared to dogs". Hardly--they simply communicate differently. I'm an older cat guy, and have always had a great relationship with cats--because I've watched how they communicate with each other and tried to do the same when communicating with them. It's amazing once you start paying attention to an animal, how much you can learn about them. Humans are supposed to be the "smart species"--but it's amazing how little we really know about other living things on our world.

I know growling is a very clear sign that "I'm not messing around, pal!" but I still find it adorable, like a tiger on helium or something! Obviously I take notice and give the cat some space if it starts growling

My cat loves to "trill" at me and has an annoying alarm clock meow when he wants food. He gets fed without fail pretty much the same times but he still meows loud and broken lol. Cats rule!

I think this might not be 100% accurate because my cat is fixed so he can't be wanting to mate. My dad says that my kitty only does this when I leave and he sits by the door doing it. And when I'm home he goes in the bathroom and sits in there and does it. So I don't know what that means.

Alice Anarchy ...Being fixed doesn't mean they don't go in heat. My cat was fixed in 2012, yet every once in a while, his pee-wee sticks out red as Rudolphs nose while he sits there licking it. I'm not being weird. It's an honest to God description of my cat. Now if someone has a female cat. Symptoms may be different since there is no pee-wee. If you ever catch your cat sitting on his bottom like a human with his back in a sitting position, you'll see what I mean. Sorry about the strong vocab, but it's just pure facts.

My cat always makes the noise when I take her to the vet, I always thought it was called "yowling" because it sounds like she's saying "yowl" on repeat.

Ok, I'm watching this on my couch with my sleeping cat on the other end of the couch. AS SOON as #2 came on, he IMMEDIATELY popped his head up and started eyeballing me, lol! Like.., "Who do you think you are...bringing another cat into MY home?" This is too funny. Thanks for the laughs!!

The yowling for my cat means he’s hungry, so yeah it is how that communicate. Also I’ve never heard my cat meow🤷🏻‍♀️

Rubbish, cats make the same noise if you turf them off a chair so you can sit down. It's the sound of frustration and annoyance

Loud YOWLING can also indicate severe pain. In my many years of rescuing these animals I've come across this type of heavy YOWLING, indicating most especially IN MALES that eat dry cat food exclusively, that their urinary track is BLOCKED. You have very little time to rush the animal to get EMERGENCY, veterinary care. Male cats should be served their dry cat food in a soupy mix, so as try to prevent urinary blockages. Special surgery is available to prevent this from occurring, although it is not 100% guaranteed. Leaving a bowl of water next to the dry cat food for him to lap up at will, is simply INSUFFICIENT! I always advise pet owners to have at hand, the 'phone number and address of a 24 hour, 7 days a week ( including holidays ) animal hospital. Thank You......Good Luck with your beloved pets. And to those of you who have had your pets cross, "THE RAINBOW BRIDGE" on to the other side.......I grieve for your loss ! 😢💔. P.S. "Videographer", ........Were you able to rescue those kittens desperately crying out for their Mother Cat ? Did she get hurt ? This is highly unusual for a momma cat to leave them alone to become victims of predators, or the mischief of the two legged kind. Kids also can be very, MEAN & CRUEL !!! 😻😸😺

For the Yowling segment. My cat makes that noise too, but it's his "I'm going to be sick noise." Lol, so we have to find him quick when he make that noise...! XD Although sometimes it's a trick! He likes to find an echoie place in the house and practice sounding as pitiful as he can, lol, he's such a character!!

Cats purr when they are happy or in peril. There is a video out there about a stray kitty that got beat up and the man 'saved' her, even though she was dieing and he thought she was happy. Bless his heart, and that poor kitty too. But they purr when they are in distress, not only when they are happy. Make them purr happy!

Really helpful to determine the different meows cat's make! I have seen some of this communication with our cats.💝

2:21 "Kittens are much more likely to meow than adults" yeah uh my adult cat meows constantly because he thinks that if he pesters us enough we'll give him food but like dude no ur fat and u don't need 8 meals a day you'll survive 😂

One of my late cats from my childhood was a very talkative cat. Whenever we would be around him and spoke to him, he’d meow back as if he’s talking like a person. Always friendly, loved snuggles and was a good boy. I miss him dearly though

Ever watch a cat trying to "figure out" how to get to something that has an obstacle in the way? They will look all around, and you can tell what route they are contemplating. Wow... random person yes, that's what I meant. Obviously they can preform basic functions like calculating which route to take or whether or not to chase something. But I don't think they make conscious decisions.

+ Sabertooth Sabertooth Well, I'd say most cats are probably far more intelligent than some people. Cats love, they hate, they fear, they have every emotion that we have. I've seen a video of a squirrel trying to wake up its mate after that mate had just been hit by a car--and you could see the squirrel watching for traffic. Sure, Cats probably don't write Lizabethean Shakespeare in their heads, but then again neither do most humans.

when the kittens started meowing, my 16 yr old female calico came running to the noise, trying to scratch under the laptop and meowing back !! even looked behind the laptop ! so cute :)
