As an Australian tax agent I find this utterly fascinating. You have to estimate your tax for the year, before the year has finished, and with new rules not yet set, with some degree of accuracy? Presumably you then might find yourself paying more, or getting a refund of excess, later on if the estimate turns out to not be correct? How often are the estimates correct? We do tax planning before year end of course, but its not expected to be anything more than an estimate and no one is actually finalising their tax payable based on it.

It's really late, but the accuracy depends on the client. Some people are very predictable. Others are like 'lol, I didn't tell you about selling the rental property for a huge gain'. The penalty for underpayment of estimated taxes isn't huge; the IRS basically makes you pay interest on what they think you should have paid.

I'm trying not to have a medical event! Was that for me trying to 1) not have a heart attack dying from this video or 2) me running into the street trying to get hit by a bus screaming "end it all!" 🧐🤣
