Well obviously the company's time is more important than yours unfortunately. I get rejection emails. Try cheking your emails... Also, I don't think they care to call back and explain why 56 plus people got rejected for the job for the 2 or 3 openings that they had.

I agree. They should at least give a call and say "Hey, so and so, we appreciate your interest in the position but unfortunately we found someone that better fit the position" or something like that. I've passed up a couple jobs because I thought an interview went great when it really didn't. Edit: I don't like to apply for other jobs after an interview so that I don't end up with 4 jobs at once lmao

Everyone has to like you. That's about it. If you got the interview you were good enough to call in. I just got a job after trying to get jobs with organizations that I ultimately did not want to work for. I don't prepare, I just talk to them like real people. They can take or leave me because I know my worth. If the employer is rude during the hiring process or does not contact you with a respectful rejection, bullet dodged. In the end you wind up where you are meant to be, so it is best not to go where you are not meant to be.

Unfortunately this is also how you also end up with people who on their resume are good for the job, but virtually incompetent. They are "likable" but not not necessarily the best fit. It's not always the case. Fortunately if the interview process is done properly they will hire the qualified, yet likable, person. You can be the perfect fit for the job and if the employer doesn't like your vibe or there is no chemistry between you, that alone can eliminate you. You can interview with 4 people for the same position and it can just take 1 person not liking you to give you a "Thanks, but no thanks" email or letter.

In my city there are plenty of marginal diverse "different" people, half of them do not even speak English properly, and they get hired with no problem, if they have confidence and respect for themselves and others. I got my first job as a new immigrant just literally walking in and making a good first impression, building rapport with the desk person. They called me next day and insisted to come in..i wasn't even sure i wanted it but i stayed with them.. Made good money.. Lol.. 11years later i quit, so now i am creating a new better career.. And guess what.. I am bound to get the job. My attitude is attracting it.

They got their pre-concieved assumptions and even PUT YOU in BOXES that you don't want to be in! It's very depressing and frustrating, not to mention makes me angry because even though there are LAWS in place not to discriminate, there's always WAYS around them and it will be YOUR word against theirs! I really wish my parents were successful business people but I wasn't "lucky" in that sense as they were mostly employees who kissed their bosses asses during the 70's, 80's 90's and so on! They are now mostly retired but damn was it EASIER and less competitive back then!

It has been proven before that all things being equal , employers will choose a more attractive employee over a lesser attractive one. Along side this, there are laws protecting against racial bias hiring however, employers do get to nitpick against their racial bias and find other reasons not to hire a specific race. Just because there are laws doesn’t mean employers fully abide by them. America sucks .

It blows my mind how many hoops these companies make people jump through to get jobs that are like lower middle class paying these days. They keep raising the standards, education level, and ridiculous questions you have to answer. Its just a corny performance these days. You can thank the rise of HR for that. Plus, there are times you may even nail the interview but dont get it because they go with an internal candidate but still have to say they interviewed so many people...and put on the dog and pony show even though you never really had a chance in the first place.

That is because there are more people than jobs. It puts them in a position where they can afford to ask a little more. Whether they always will get is another matter. Higher qualified people usually are more expensive and will have more opportunities. They have an edge on the rest. Most companies are looking for people who will be the most benefitial short and long run. This rise of HR you speak of is nonsense. They like the rest are hired to do their job. If they don't deliver they will have to answer for it. In the end companies need competent and skilled people.

How can you be sure you had nailed the job interview? Just because a conversation went well doesn't mean they thought you were qualified enough. Have you asked them what reason they had not to hire you? Usually they will tell you if you specifically ask for it. If it is something skill based you could use that to your advantage in a next interview.

You do need to be qualified and also be able to interview well to sell yourself to the employer. I would say too, remember people hire people that (1) remind them of themselves, (2) they can see themselves enjoying being around in the office (3) see skills in the person that they/their team needs. Skills can be taught, however behaviors and personality cannot be taught/easily changed.

In the case of number six, I'd say that it could be seen as an opportunity to make ourselves be seen although we are not going to be given the job. I personally had this experience. I applied for a job which was already set aside for someone inside that large company. I put so much effort in that interview and it went so well that they finally hired me, not for the post I was applying to (it was already set aside) but for an entry level position. They said "we were so delighted with your interview that we want to give you this related job". I accepted it and eventually got the intended job. The thing is, if it hadn't been for that interview, I wouldn't have been known by them and wouldn't have gotten the job.

I sooooooo appreciate your comment about how it is "rude" how prospective employers just drop you like a bad habit once they decide to go with someone else, even if you ask for feedback. Yes, I am going through a VERY difficult, psychologically and emotionally taxing search for a high school social studies teaching position in Chicagoland. At least in a general sense, I am as qualified as anyone out there relative to my level of experience in the field and whoever does eventually hire me is going to get one of THE best high school social studies teachers in the world and nothing less. But for now, good God, I just need to get a frickin' interview and for the most part, the process feels very cold, detached, and just plain discouraging. But I WILL get through this and land my dream job because teaching is my life's purpose and that's just the way it is. And when I do get there, I VOW to NEVER forget what this process is like and always do anything and everything I can to empower those going through this struggle.

Brandon Zurvale, I get the impression that you are a little desperate. If that is the case, it probably comes across in the interview and that could be a turn off. I know you posted your comment 9 months ago and I hope you found the job you were looking for. If you haven’t, try a different approach. From my experience, when I went to an interview for a job I was not that excited about, I was very relaxed, talked to the interviewer like I would talk to a colleague and more often than not, I was offered the job. The key is to just be yourself. Eventually you will find the right fit.

I think sometimes it is also very subjective. I worked with a manager who chose someone with NO experience over someone who HAD experience simply because this manager thought the one WITHOUT experience was a nicer person and went on to justify at the deliberation that this candidate seem eager and willing to learn and therefore this compensates the lack or absence of....in this person‘s opinion. This manager is often vocal about disliking candidates who are too knowledgeable because apparently this mgr did not like to lose the job to someone who is better.

I just went through multi round interviews with 5 different companies within the last 3 weeks. Some I was overqualified for. Not one of them panned out and I am so extremely frustrated. I must be missing something.

Great video! I’ve learn a lot of interviewing techniques on U-tube but yours are really relevant. I am currently employed but looking to get into Pharmacuetical industry as controls automation engineer with 15 years experience. It started with screening and ace that. Invited to campus to meet with department head and 2 other engineers. They were impressed with my resume and atmosphere was friendly which put me immediate to ease. I was very confident throughout interview and felt relax enough really open up and conversational exchanges just seem flow. 24 hrs later follow up with thank you email address individually to all three interviewers. Had interview on Friday and it’s now following Thursday and I haven’t heard back. The last interviewer did mention that they had one more person this week to interview. My question is how much time should lapse before I follow up if I don’t get a call back. Funny thing is, early week HR called to inquire about my salary and vac, is that a good sign after having interview or is that just routine that companies do after meeting with individual?

I have a question that I hope someone can shed some light on. I've done two interviews with this one company, the 1st was with the manager and the 2nd was with the store manager. At the end of the 2nd interview, the store manager told me straight up "I'm not gonna hire you." The weird thing though, is that the store manager also wants to continue with more interviews, so I shouldn't give up. The store manager already told me I wasn't going to be hired, so why should I keep going back for interviews? Do they think they're going to suddenly find something out about me that they haven't already?

Why don't employers provide feedback? There should be a service that acts as a go-between and lets applicants know the reasons for being rejected. I went through three interviews including a grueling two hour video interview with four people only to later receive a terse rejection email. I do wish I could know what I did wrong.

Alexander_the_Goat , you should not assume you did anything wrong. They probably picked someone else, who in their subjective opinion, was better suited for the position.

I have to say that I’m employed and I’m not seeking. I do watch still because once your ebook, I think KZread wasn’t widespread as now ( long ago) changed my life completely. I use to suck at interviews and you changed that to me. I do watch for entertainment and to keep sharp because you never know.

I remember a time when if you got the call you were hired. Now everything is ass backwards and getting worse. The pink Unicorn is alive and well! Can only hope these companies continue to struggle until the light comes on in their proverbial empty skulls.

@@Luckshara-Lucky i wish i could tell you. I've tried so hard to get in a company, it's better when your career plan lined with the job you're applying. as for me i'm applying for a bank teller position, but my major is nursing, but my previous experience matched with the position, and i have the skills required.🤷‍♀️ i've done a lot of research, and give my best. I still didn't get hired.

Well, guess I'll just stay where I am and die, which is what's happening. I can't do a thing about experience I don't have. The only thing I can do is continue to try to sell the experience I do have and my potential to add to the solid base I have. Honestly, I have to stop watching these videos. They just make me feel hopeless.

Learn to BS. You just have to have a positive and can-do attitude and tie everything from your prior experiences to the job requirements on the posting. Write down stories (STAR) and practice them. You got this. I believe in you, you should believe in yourself!

Thank you Don for all your encouragement. I had an internal interview for a position at the same company last week. It went vey well and next day, they contacted my curent job managers to check my references. One week later, they called me: " ..we have another applied.. very close and tight..if you are still interested in .., reapply next time." I am so frustrated becuase my current managers knowing that i want to leave, eventhough they were seem very nice and told me they gave me a good reference. I have been interviewing multiple positions in same company. I can't believe it is so difficult get a job eventhough I am internal employee. I feels so depressed and hopeless. What should i do now? Give me advices pls.
