There's a lot of great guitar work in pop songs. There's also a lot of elitist guitarists who bash on pop songs thinking they're too good for it. This is coming from a 16 year veteran of the instrument and believe me I was one of those people for a long time. I think it's some rite of passage that almost every rocker goes through but eventually we all come back full circle. Subsequently a true artist appreciates the instrument and the music not the genre.

If you're a true musician and not just a blues guy or a metalhead or some elitist shit you can appreciate any type of music. Of course, there's crap. But there's crap in any genre. I was never against these types of songs. I don't particularly listen to them myself but all of them have a lot of stuff in the middle we don't know about composition wise, production wise, etc

Time was that most pop songs were just built around cool guitar riffs. Seems to be a rarity in 21st Century pop, with a near universal reliance on Pro Tools based synth lines.

The longer you play with your wrist angled sharp you're gonna have really awful pain in the future. If you can learn to keep your arm perpendicular to the neck and straighten your wrist the better it'll be on your tendons. Not to say anything bad about your playing. Great video
