80yr old here. Never minded being called "old". I can now get away with things I could never have gotten away with when I was young.

At 76 yrs I find motivation to be the most difficult to keep active. You are correct, the mind is everything; that & attitude. Of course if one ignores the spiritual part of our being, then one is lost. The balance between mind - body - spirit will give peace & calm to our souls.

Am 76 as well, hubby is 74 both happy & contented, loving/living together in a moderate lifestyle while always helping out each other. I used to sing professionally, (as a hobby) I still sing, love to dance so I joined a Senior Zumba Group, do handicrafts & play Bingo games with other friends❣️💖☮️🍀

There are 2 things you lose the older you get: 1) your memory, 2) I forget the other one.😂

I took up running at 60, am now almost 63 and am doing half marathons. I eat better nutrition now than ever before in my life and am consistent. I learnt Spanish and I read a lot. I am a great believer in the power of the mind. How we think so shall we be

After a mild traumatic brain injury from an auto accident in 2008 then in 2012 (wrong place , wrong time) I kept working but finally , by 2019 , at just 56, it all caught up with me. Then in 2021, some bizarre ,autoimmune like disease (neuropothy in my feet and hands, ear pain in each ear) at 60, I feel older than I should. Trail walking every other day, mountain bike riding, going to the gym, WORK....doesnt seem that long ago. The past 5 years, due to limiting factors, pain and no longer working, it feels like I aged 15 year in 5. I wanna kick the TV when I hear "60 is the new 40". That depends. Id have to say that most people, a majority, start to hit the skids after 65. Into your 80s? Maybe 1% are doing fairly OK. Wishful thinking.

Sounds like you've had a tough time over these years. I had cancer 7 years ago but so far am fine. In my early 70s and still work part time. I guess I am just lucky. Hope things improve for you. Have you changed your diet or tried intermittent fasting? That has helped me a lot!

You are so right. And same here. Three traumatic brain injuries in 5 years ... I'm thin, have always been active and eat healthy ... but fell apart at 53. I'm 57 now and even though I'm taking all sorts of expensive supplements, still forcing myself to exercise, still eating healthy ... I don't know how much longer I'll make it.

Old does not have bad connotation in cerrtain cultures like that of Arabia. Sheikh means old but also the most powerful, the expert.

Thank you for this thoughtful and thought-provoking video. I disagree with some of what you say here, but I think you've done a gorgeous job of making your case. I am "old" now, but I still live by my long-ago mantra my lips drink water but my heart drinks wine, for every mile the feet go the heart races nine One question for us who are old seems to be quality vs quantity. How long should we seek to live, and at what cost? Do I abstain from wine, knowing that dread alcohol will open my immunological doors to destruction, and perhaps invite my demise, or do I drink wine, savoring the moment for what it is?

Thank you for your very thoughtful comment. I have never been a wine drinker as it causes migraines but if you enjoy it and it improves your life then go for it. I guess I am overly health conscious. All the best!

The only thing you got wrong was diet. 61 started eating red fatty meat again just like the good old days. I go rucking, sprinting and lifting weights. Feel great and no meds. You should have spirituality in your life.

I have an illness that stops me from strength training. So I have learned that a 5 second shock to muscles can maintain muscle mass. So I jump once a day. Landing as hard and stiff as I can. Shocking my leg muscles. I also pick up something that is as heavy as possible on a regular basis. 35lbs right hand 32lbs left hand.

She confused ultra processed food and just processed food. Juice, flour, peanut butter is processed foods. High fructose corn syrup, fruit loops, additives you can’t pronounce are ultra processed foods.

The definitions keep moving around. I define processed foods what we did 300 years ago to make food more digestible. Grinding flour, cooking potatoes, fermenting fruit. If we didn’t do it 300 years ago I probably consider it ultra processed. Thanks for the book suggestion.

We have fixed the cause of death over the last 200 years. People would die at a certain age because of certain reasons. Bad sanitation dead by 25 Broken bones and infection dead by 40 Heart attack and diabetes dead by 60 Cancer dead by 70 Dementia and Alzheimer’s dead by 80 Once each of these are dealt with then having muscle mass, continuously using your brain, eating nutritious food becomes very important. Stay healthy people
