Great lesson Steve. Your a rock star...
Great stuff. Thank You Jim
Cheers steve your videos put across so much good info back button i find great i use nikon and you have improved my photography skills,
I actually had Easy Exposure Compensation on for a try recently, but switched it back off because the camera readings confused me and didn't seem accurate. Watching your Video made me take another try, prooving to myself why it was a bad idea - but then I noticed that it wasn't the case at all. It was just me getting confused by the camera readings. The thing was, when the camera is unable to set my desired exposure, the reading wouldn't show me the set EC anymore, but the current exposure offset from what I want (usually "too dark"). So while I thought my EC was accidently set to -2, I bumped it up even further, saw no change (because it was still too dark) and finaly missed the shot. -- Now I know that when my camera is unable to set my desired exposure, the icon starts flashing to warn me. Yes, I didn't notice that before, so two things learned with one lesson. I think I can call that a win!
as always, quality tips
Steve, thanks for the informative video. Getting ready to go out to the Washington coast after several weeks without camera in hand. Needed small reminders to shake the cobwebs off. Just purchased a D850 and am planning on putting it through its paces with multiple settings paired with a number of different lenses. Still working on my ideal custom buttons and dial settings. Your videos really help out in that category.
Awesome tips. Realized I didn't really understand AF capabilities of my D7100. This video helped a lot, but decided to order the book so that I have something in hardcopy for reference and deeper understanding
Great tips!
Amazing tips. Thank you!!!
Awesome tips! Thank you so much!
Thank you! Another great video!
Thanks guys, great ideas.
It is very very important to me. This is what I wanted for the last few months. I did not know how to question this particular. Luckily I got the answer. I got the right thing for me. Thank you.

Yeah, I'm a little slower getting stuff out than I'd like. Things should be back to normal once my current book project is done.
Excellent tips again ... thank you Steve :-)
The autofocus autoswitch is epic.Thank you
Love your information!
Awesome per usual Steve!
Awesome video and information 👌 Amazing tips!
The easy exposure comp setting is an hidden gem! Not only does it make it fast to adjust the compensation, but it also automatically resets itself to 0 when the camera goes in standby mode. I don’t know you but I often forget to reset that kind of setting! The auto reset makes it way more efficient than any dedicated dial...
Great Video. Appreciate the tips.
You are amazing! thank you for sharing :)
love your vids and bought your guides! keep it up!!

Great video as usual.
Great tips! thank you
Great tips. Thanks.
Good video. I know pretty much all the features of my camera but struggle to remember them at shooting time!!!
More and better infos than Nikon. Thanks!
Excellent vid
So helpful!
awesome videos, learn a lot
I’m new to this , you’re awesome .
I set fn1 (that is the function button bottom right below the lens on the front on a D500) to toggle between grid view and level view. It allows me to use my little finger to switch function while still keeping index finger in the shutter button and maintaining a decent grip
Very Informative TY!
Great tips, Steve! Thank you. Looking forward to the publication of your next e-book! Any chance you would write a book on the secrets of the Nikon D850?????
Just bought your wildlife book, learned a lot from the autofocus book 👍🏻 You better hurry up with your new book, I am a fast reader 🤣😁 I am Dutch but your books are easy to read for everybody that doesn’t have English as the native language. Thanks for all the tips and sorry for my spelling 🤭
Excellent video
Awesome stuff you have here - just subscribed. Thanks for great inspiration:)

Super! Thanks.
You sir are awesome

Sweet stuff

Thanks Steve, I always look forward to your video tutorials. You remind me of an actor, Diedrich Bader, anyone else say that?

I'm just glad I don't remind you of a singer :)
Awesome Video once again, crisp and clear to the point. I bought both of your previous books and looking forward to the book on Exposure.. I am glad to see my FM Forum (clickmepp) request getting into reality.. I had been expecting the announcement after you launched Histogram Video. Looking forward to see your Videos and Books... Below was my request and your reply :) I would love him to write a book on "SECRETS TO NIKON EXPOSURE SYSTEM" Thanks so much And I'd be lying if I said that idea hadn't crossed my mind Thankfully, I don't think there's nearly as much to it as the AF system, so that one would be a shorter book.
Unfortunately not for my D610, unless I am mistaken, but thanks Steve I always appreciate your Nikon DSLR INFO.
Have a great day too Steve.
I use exposure delay in combination with timer and mirror-up mode when photographing events like lunar or solar eclipses. Pressing the shutter release will initiate a 3-second pause, followed by mirror-up, a timed-delay and then the exposure. Though, perhaps a bit AR, it's a great way to allow vibration from pushing the shutter release or mirror slap to dissipate, before the exposure is made.

Hi Bill - On all my Nikons, the camera automatically locks up the mirror in exposure delay mode, even if you're in something like CH (I honestly jus noticed this when putting this video together - I always switched to M UP mode too). However, I also noticed that on cameras with electronic front curtain enabled, when you switch to M UP mode, the camera will lock up the mirror and the first curtain of the mechanical shutter - avoiding mirror slap and shutter shock.
I first LIKE your Video Content and then I watch it..
Thanks mate.
Thank you very much
There is an even nicer way for ISO settigns IMO. You can use the movie record button (the red one) and assign it to be the ISO button. It is very close to where the ISO button used to be and works with the dials without turning on the screen! You find it under the f9 settings.

I'm having a very great day Steve...
Thanks for another AWESOME video, Steve! (I have both of your books, too.) I swear, if you ever get assimilated by the Borg (....uh.... I mean....."switch to Sony") I am going to lose all faith in humanity. No pressure.

Thanks - But I doubt that will happen. Not enough big glass, and mirrorless cameras aren't my first choice for wildlife (imagine the horrible balance with a 600mm on a gimbal with a tiny little mirrorless lol). The truth is, I believe Nikon has the best gear for wildlife shooters.

Wonderful
When I renamed my files, years ago, I used my initials. That way each photo already was associated with my name.
Good Stuff.
