I love the choices for the personal pronouns that the turtles use: Leo and Raph use the typical masculine “ore” that most teenage boys would use (I can see Raph also using “ore-sama” when he brags or bullies Mikey, it would be very fitting), Don uses the boyish “boku,” denoting his soft-spoken and gentle nature, and Mikey uses the more unusual “oira,” very fitting for the comic relief character with a childish side (it’s interesting, too, because, iirc, other Mikeys in different iterations tend to use “boku” to emphasize Mikey’s boyishness, like in 2012 and Rise). Also, Mikey calling Don “Dona-chan” is so adorable. Out of all the brothers, only Mikey could get away with that, and only Don would allow it given how prideful the other two can get.

@@user-th8xh1kq8s it’s mostly used in Japanese dubs of western works, I’ve found. Like Mikey here, and Eric Cartman from South Park, apparently. I guess the archetype of mischievous but harmless male characters isn’t as popular in Japanese works? Or maybe it’s seen as a bit old-fashioned, as some might get the impression that the character is from a rural area, which Cartman certainly is. I agree, though, we definitely need more “oira” users, it’s so charming. It fits Mikey to a T, that’s for sure.

I'm a Japanese fan of TMNT2003, and I still love this work. It was a pity that the Japanese dubbing ended with Season 2, the voice actors did a great job (I especially love Leonardo's battle shouts), but the DVD probably won't be released. Seasons 3, 4, and 5, which were not aired in Japan, were so interesting that I made the subtitles myself and made a DVD, and I was explaining them to my father and enjoying them together.
