A massive landslide and severe flooding have completely isolated the famous Swiss ski resort Zermatt. Heavy rains and melting snow have turned the small river Vispa into a muddy torrent, flooding the village and blocking all access roads. Train services have been halted, and replacement buses can only reach Täsch. The Rhône river has also flooded large areas in the canton Wallis/Valais.
