7) Mind & brain difference, past lives & terminal lucidity

What is the difference between the brain and the mind?
The brain & the mind are two separate things. The brain cannot recall past lives, but the mind can. Ajahn Brahm shares details of a man known to him who came to Australia from Irland in his past live.
When the stream of consciousness enters this body it comes with memories and conditioning from the past. These things get overridden by the brain and are not easily accessible for most of us. After deep meditation memories from early live or even from a previous life can be relived. Ajahn Brahm shares some details how do this in the best and safest way.
(This short video clips was extracted from the Q&A sessions of the 9-day meditation retreat at Jhana Grove in July 2023 led by Ajahn Brahm. If you would like to view the entire retreat here is the KZread playlist: • 2023 July | 9 Day Retr... )
Another example of the brain and mind being separate is terminal lucidity. When a person is close to death the brain is shutting down and the mind is taking over. Ajahn shares the most recent example he heard of.
