// I made an error: for the 1st Gen Nextbase, there was also a 612 with 4K recording. For the 2nd gen, there are 122-512 + G/W derivatives.
There are plenty of great alternatives from Garmin and BlackVue, but this is an excellent dashcam and suits my needs for a reasonable price.

Whether the electric seat fuse is PERMANENT LIVE is a slight unknown (difficult to test without waking the car in the process), however, should be a better option compared to, for example, the window or panoramic roof fuses, which don't work when the door is open, and the car is not set to ACC or Ready. Also, isn't too important (such as the horn or charging flap relays).
Parking mode is enabled, and if this doesn't work as intended, a full hardwire to the battery would be required.

Thanks for a good review on Nextbase 312G. I was going to upgrade to 522GW but not anymore as I don’t need extra features so thank you for saving me money with your review. Regards. Habib

Good video as usual Kevin. By connecting to a fuse that is always active are you not running the risk of draining the 12v battery?

Hi John, thanks for watching ☺️ The hardwire kit has an automatic voltage cutoff at 11.6V. I doubt the product description is correct in saying you can start a petrol or diesel vehicle at that voltage. Seems a bit too low. However I started the ZS EV the day after and it was at 14V. The camera itself is on parking mode so switches itself off unless it feels a jolt.

@@KCTalksEV Thanks Kevin. I have a couple of cheapo Voyager 212, rebranded Nextbase 212 which were sold by Aldi. I have one hardwired by piggyback to the 15amp 12v outlet fuse on the MG. After seeing your video I have ordered the Nextbase 312G and will try hardwiring it to a 30 amp always on fuse. Incidentally my Voyager 212 only has a 2 amp fuse.

I reckon it is always on given the seat can be controlled without switching to accessories or ready, however, the car may automatically switch all of the fuses off after a few hours. It's quite difficult to check without a remote multimeter 🤣 That being said, it's one electronic accessible without the car being on ACC and Ready so is the best best - F13 is the fuse number ☺️
