For everyone talking about verticals in the comments, every player in the NBA probably has a better vertical in the prime of their careers compared to what they recorded in the combine. And since the only record of their verts is the combine, you can’t use that stat to make any points since they probably have a different vertical now.

If you watch Bird he had very quick feet. He couldn't jump and he wasn't fast getting down the court. But ask any of the multitudes of extremely athletic players that he embarrassed on the court if he could play! I wasn't a Celtics or Bird fan back in the day but I have to respect his game.

Tim probably is incapable of tossing that many bricks, he's too SOUND and didn't FORCE tons of bad shots.

A lot of people found Tim Duncan boring. But his efficient, well rounded, fundamentally sound game made him one of my favorites when I first became an NBA fan. He used the same moves for 20 years because they worked.

Some folks found Bill Russell boring most of the time - but he did what it took to make his team WIN when it counted better than any other player before or since. I'll take HIS record of 11-1 in the Finals over MJ's ANYTIME - and note that he was HURT for 2 or 3 games out of that only Finals series he ever lost.

I beg to disagree but these are the top 5 unathletic GOATS. 5. Pierce 4. Yao 3. Nash 2. Dirk 1. Larry Bird Curry is a speed demon with basketball and quite good on taking athletic layups. Duncan doesn't have great vertical jump but what stands the most is an equal amount of strength and endurance wc requires athleticism and good body.

@@Cameron-mh3rn actually he is obe of the strongest players in the NBA. 2nd strongest in GSW history, only behind the strongest player in league history, Wilt Chamberlain. Curry can deadlift 400 pounds. He might have a decent vert and great strength but, he isn't very athletic other than those. He doesn't even use that vert much. The only reason he gained a lot of strength is so that his ankles are stronger. Styrofoam ankles ain't athletic.
