did the same thing to my mk4 w58 when i changed the rear housing to a non remote housing, worked fine never had an issue.

I showed a guy how to pull a W58 rear housing off to change the shifter position, took no time. He still didn't want to attempt it on his. Trying stuff is great fun

Looks mint jay apart from the coils 😂 I'd suggest a flex joint up front for the pipe, save cracking it all or losing it mid drift. If ypu get stuck i could send you a couple ls coils. Been sitting in my bus for years, forgot i had them. Great work fellas 👌

Yeah the coils kill me. I’ve never ran flex joints and never had and issue with cracking and figure if it does just weld it up again.

i use a 300 amp circuit breaker instead of a fuse it is easily resetable and you dont have to carry or change fuses

It's no good to you now but regarding the gearbox - for the W5x there's like 10 different shifter housings but they all have a matching shifter rod thing (the thing that bolts to the selector shaft), if you use one shifter housing with a different shifter rod thing then you won't get the full range of movement from your shift lever.
