With Groningen you forgot to mention that they we're defeated in the Dutch cup against a amateurclub Spakenburg at home(2-3 after getting 0-3 behind). They boycotted the localpress because the localpress had written articles about a Groningen players dog who killed another dog. They sacked the coach and the first 5 options to replace him all declined the offer, so the inexperienced assistant manager got the oppertunity, only to win 1 of his 20 games in charge.

Also worth mentioning about FC Groningen is that their very successful long-time (over 20 years) chairman Hans Nijland departed the club in 2019. Under his rule the club promoted to the Eredivisie and became a stable top half club (12 out of 14 seasons between '06 and '19). Previous season the decline had already set in.

They were hit by some bad lucks like injury crisis, new signings got underperformed, etc. They only bounced back in the last 11 games, but unlike what happened in 2020/21, the Champions League was gone because of a draw vs Aston Villa and Manchester United won the last 4 games, including a 4-1 win over a weak Chelsea side. Ajax's story was a drama because not only they lost ETH, but some of his child were left as well, notably Lisandro Martinez and Antony. The club then hired an unknown Bald guy, but results were different. The club exited the Champions League by only recording 2 wins over Rangers and shockingly eliminated by Union Berlin in the Europa League knockout playoff round. Despite changing a manager again, results didn't improve as Ajax lost to Feyenoord and PSV for the Champions League race.

You should make a video about Rosenborg, the Norwegian club who won 13 straight league titles from 1992 to 2004 and featured many straight seasons in the Champions League group stage, making the quarter-finals in 1996 after defeating Milan at San Siro. During those years they also defeated Real Madrid 2-0 at home & Borussia Dortmund 3-0 away. They're a club in complete disarray today, haven't won a trophy since 2018 and are currently 11th with 9 points from 9 matches. They look upon themselves as the biggest club in Norway, but last week they struggled to beat a local level 5 side 1-0 in the 1st round of the Norwegian Cup and all hell broke loose. Culminating with angry fans hanging up banners of frustration at the club locations in the small hours of Friday last week, and another league defeat on Monday. They've seen the small town teams Bodø-Glimt & arch rivals Molde dominating the last four league seasons with 2 titles each and Bodø-Glimt are already miles ahead this season.

Hoping for a video about Bodø/Glimt one day. From second tier to winning the league, breaking several records in the process 2 years later. Also reaching quarter finals of the Conference League. Playing fun, attacking football, not fearful trying to play they own style, even when they meet the likes of Arsenal. Bodø/Glimt is how a club from a smaller city should be run. Hope that more of the Norwegian clubs take notice. This year, Bodø/Glimt have a strong squad and I am exited to see how far they could get in the Conference League this time. About Rosenborg I can just ask right about now. What on Earth is going on at Rosenborg? 😆 Update: Rosenborg just lost 2-1 to a tier 3 club, Stjørdals-Blink in the Norwegian cup! 😲

@@sugarkookiewithsometae4245 I can understand that, and Bodø-Glimt seems immensely strong so far this season. It's funny that here in Norway teams from the three biggest cities aren't doing very well, apart from Brann from Bergen who had a record-breaking season in Div. 1 last season and has continued that good form this year. Vålerenga, the only side from our capital Oslo in the top flight never gets going and Rosenborg hasn't won a trophy since 2018, coming from our #3 biggest town Trondheim. It's the small towns of Bodø & Molde that are dominating, and manages to attract our best players b/c they know how professional and well driven those two clubs are. Molde has had their ups and downs this season, but hopefully we're on the right track now. Bodø-Glimt seems unstoppable this year though, therefore will it be even more important for Molde to get to a group stage in Europe, and finishing so we can qualify for Europe again next year. Or win the Cup of course!

Dishonourable mention to Ajax, too. They very uncharacteristically failed to win any Eredivisie game against their fellow top 5 teams Feyenoord, PSV, AZ and FC Twente for the first time ever, were dismal in Europe and lost the cup final, just when they seemed set to dominate the Netherlands Bayern-style. This was all set in motion by a brilliant technical director being disappoingly unable to keep it in his pants. What followed was two utterly shambolic transfer windows, chagrin among the players, and the departure of director Edwin van der Sar. They are now facing the harsh reality of having to spend way less money than they would like, as they will miss out on the Champions League prize money they have come to rely on.

AIK solna here in Stockholm, sweden is in one of two automatic relegation spots, they have a 50,000 seater stadium biggest in Sweden. Aik is doing extremely terrible only managed to get 6 points so far this season after 10 out of 30 matches has been played. I never thought AIK would do this badly even if I am supporter of Hammarby another Stockholm club in the allvsenskan, the highest division.

But yeah nothing compares to Groningen, I feel kind of bad about it too since Robben himself still played to keep them from relegation a while ago. Though it's now said that he might help in their internal workings regardless, so maybe we'll see that again.

Its generally not thought of in Portugal as very surprising that Santa Clara got relegated. It was rather the fact they had been finishing so high that was a massive over achievement, since theyre not exactly swimming in money, one can get a feel for that just by looking at their stadium. In addition, theres an European curse in Portugal, teams that qualify for European competitions, that arent used to it, do very poorly the following season. GD Chaves due to that actually chose not to play the conference league next season despite qualifying for it

One year on: Trabzonspor finished 3rd this year, miles off the top two Galatasaray and Fenerbahce, but comfortably 3rd while qualifying for the Europa League, and making the final of the Turkish cup Chelsea went on a great run to finish 6th in the Premier League Santa Clara won the Liga Portugal 2, popping straight back up, and made the quarterfinal of the Taça de Portugal (where they lost to Porto) Dundee United won the Scottish Championship, popping straight back up Lechia Gdansk won the Polish I Liga, popping straight back up Groningen came 2nd in the Eerste Divisie, popping straight back up, and went on a run to the KNVB Cup semi-finals, where they lost to Feyenoord and while Wigan didn't get promoted back to the Championship, they were nowhere near relegation, finishing 12th (would have been 10th if not for their points deduction) So all 7 teams likely feel better now than they did a year ago (debatably Chelsea with Pocchetino gone)

Bedford Town got promoted from the 8th tier of the pyramid last season. They were doing ok, but sacked the manager(and cut the budget after I believe). The next manager got sacked after a month, but it seems like he singlehandedly took them from a lower-mid table tier 7 team to the relegation zone. AFC Rushden and Diamonds(who had the lowest budget in the league) got in a good manager and they started winning games. All of a sudden, Bedford looked in trouble, with Hednesford doing everything to save themselves(4 went down from this league). All three went down with King's Langley, but most of them gave it a go. Apart from Bedford, who ended the season 10 games without a goal and finished bottom of the league.

Dundee United is a good shout, being Scottish I was shouting about Glasgow rangers. From europa league finalists to the record holding whipping boys of the champions leage, the fact their rivals won a comfortable record 8th treble leaving them with no trophies and losing their most valuable players who are out of contract (morelos and kent), with some fans thinking they were worth 25m each. Obviously not relegated, not looking like they go bust again (yet). They have a massive rebuild. The only cause of celebration for them was the celtic manager leaving for spurs. And they seemed ecstatic about it.

Just a little mistake that I'd like to underline: Hellas Verona didn't get relegated this season because they've qualified for the Relegation Playoffs against Spezia. According to the new rules of Italian Championship from 2022/23, if two of the last 4 classified teams have the same points, they must be qualified for the knockout round of relegation playoff. So, Hellas Verona have won the round 3-1 against Spezia and the second ones have been relegated to Serie B
