I can't believe I played Perfect Dark as a teenager and I'm only just now realising that AR53 is a bum joke when I'm in my thirties. I feel like I failed a test.

Random trivia: Back very soon after the game released, one of my family was in touch with Pixies guitarist Joey Santiago's partner through another band they were involved with - I recorded a clip of the names being read out and it was sent on to her and Joey. Reportedly he "got a kick out of it".

The Perfect Dark Zero hate is not appreciated. Game is vastly under rated and disgustingly bandwagon hated. It's only real flaw is the input lag. Thankfully thanks to Xenia and 60fps patch, even that can now be fixed.

While I do enjoy the game, it does have a problem in that some of the original’s flaws were never fixed in it, like the frankly stupid health system (though the addition of shock damage is cool), the general difficulty at any difficulty level, the game keeps going if you fail an objective but is otherwise unwinnable and you can’t jump. The jungle temple level can go to hell too. Still is an underrated gem for all the other stuff it does though. I’d love to see it brought to PC in a package with the XBLA port of the original, plus a PC port of both the cancelled XBLA Goldeneye & Goldeneye Reloaded.

No, everything from it's art style, story, voice acting and lack of gameplay features were disappointing. Let alone the horrible gunplay and bullet sponge enemies.

That toilet cheese was a mystery to me for decades now, I never knew it was in a couple other areas! I feel fulfilled with your showing them and explaining, thanks. And appreciate your efforts with the Carrington interaction, ha. That’s some love from a true fan of the original.

What a fantastic trip down memory lane!! My brother and I have been Perfect Dark fans since the first - and best - version came out on N64. I haven't seen footage of the new Perfect Dark yet, but will recommend this vid to him shortly. (His name is Liam, btw.) Thank You Ian!

Still have my copy of Perfect Dark on the Gameboy colour. Featuring a battery compartment that made the game cartridge a rumble pack. One of the only good things about it. 😅

I have never played Perfect Dark, but you reminded me how many cool and iconic characters video game companies managed to come up with back in the day. If modern game companies didn't have these characters to fall back on for reboots, remasters, or sequels, the video game landscape would look very different nowadays.
