Digital Nomad Backpack Theory...
There are two types of Digital Nomad backpacks...
1. The large travel pack that you roam the world with
2. Your daypack once you are in a new country
This review focuses on backpack type #1 - larger Digital Nomads travel backpacks.
For a digital nomad backpack to be the best, it needs to properly protect your tech gear, it needs to be large enough to pack all your stuff, and it needs to be durable enough to protect everything.

I have been watching your videos for almost a year and I like your opinion on bags that I’m not planning to buy because you make me see what is important in each type of bag, sling or backpack. I bought the aer for pack 3 and the city sling after seeing your reviews, keep doing the great work to all of you guys.

I’m no digital nomad but I do bring the laptop and all the accessories to and from work. I like the “less is more” approach of the Bellroy Transit workpack. Looks profesh, just the right amount of simple organization and capacity, and it’s comfortable to carry - although I’m not sure I’d take it on a hike. As a work pack it checks all the boxes for me.

Very helpful. That Capsule pack is on final sale right now. I picked up the 40L version (I'm a bigger guy, some of these backpacks looks too small across the shoulders for me). It was between that and the tortuga 40 but being on sale makes the decision easy. I have an old Mr. Davis 30L carry on, was really square but decent in function, 30L is a smidge small (bigger guy bigger clothes). For work, I'm very minimalist, I just need a laptop, an small umbrella or maybe a packable, rainjacket. I have an old kenneth cole leather briefcase satchel, but your channel made me reconsider carrying options for my work commute, since the workplace is no longer so formal. I've been eyeing the Aer travel sling, since I'm looking for the smallest 15" laptop carry possible and over the shoulder vs messenger bag carry options seem nice, can help me decrease my footprint on a crowded train.

I have a suggestion for a backpack review. It's called Barner Valley, 20L I think. It's a new bag still in the pre-order phase from a Barcelona company. They say it's built specifically for the digital generation. Its looks resemble the nomatic backpack but with more than just black on black on black lol. There are some unique modular features on it too from camera to travel to food. I think you'd like it as a digital nomad who carries an array of things.

Hey Aaron, I'm looking for a specific type of backpack and could really use your advice! I'm moving to the UK and so I need a bag that is highly hydrophobic; I finally found one that ticked all the boxes - the Arcteryx Granville 16L (VERY water resistant, great compartmentalisation, great size and pretty stylish) - although they don't ship to the country I'm currently in.. do you have any recs on the best alternatives to this bag? or any great water resistant bags at this price point?

Hi all! I'm feeling a bit lost in finding a replacement for my very old Ares Backpack. Maybe this lovely community can tell me some go-to ones which will fit my large EDC stuff: - one 16 inch laptop - one 14 inch laptop - one 11 inch tablet - one mini logitech keys keyboard - one MX mouse + laptop stand, along with a lot of chargers for both laptops and tablet

I enjoy your channel & try to support when I can (still trying to use your link to get the Modern Dayfarer tech pouch, but that thing's been out of stock for about a decade & a half now). Unrelated to this video, but I know the Aer Tech Sling 2 is one of your favorite slings. I saw an Alpaka Alpha Messenger sling that has similar aesthetics (slim profile, but unlike the Aer, it has an adjustable shoulder padding so that you can sling to the left or right shoulder). Not sure if you guys are planning on reviewing it, but what are your thoughts on that one?

I have traveled a lot with my Targus mobile tech traveler XL (30L) with no major issues, I love it has wheels but you can also convert it to a regular backpack. I can fit clothes for one week, laptop a pair of barefoot shoes and some flip flops. I would like it to have more compartments in the laptop side of the backpack, specially because I own other targus backpacks and they definitely have more small compartments

I feel Aer is so close to creating the perfect packs for me but they fall just short. I wish they would made the interior of their packs with better quality materials. The exterior of their packs are perfect with high quality material and straps/padding but it’s just a let down when you zip it open and see the same level of quality was not matched for the interior. But tbh I’m having a hard time finding any pack whose materials are super high quality interior + exterior. Companies love using X-PAC mainly for the exterior where it doesn’t look that professional, sturdy or clean IMO. But I think it’s better suited as a HQ light weight interior weatherproof material. My ideal pack would be a 1680 cordura on the exterior + weather proof X-PAC interior combo (especially the laptop compartment). If you do know of packs to check def let me know!

  • @Nomads.Nation

Xpac interior would be crazy heavy. If you want waterproofness then check out the Mission Workshop Rhake - we just shot a review last week and should be live soon. The lining is waterproof as hell. As for premium interior materials - check out Boundary and Tortuga. Also, the bag that I’m making will have the best interior materials in the world - it’s epic what we’ve put in there 💪🏻

Tortuga Outbreaker 45L vs 35L... I've heard that the 45L doesn't "fly" as carry-on on some airlines. Isn't the 45L too big to carry on to some international flights? It's over the size limit. I travelled Europe this summer, flying numerous times with the 35L, and never had a problem on various flights. The 35L is bulky enough so I can't imagine traveling with an even bigger box on my back. Also, minimalist hands-free backpack travel lets you feel vastly more free and superior to other humans, LOL. Any thoughts about the new (2023) Tortuga line?
