Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
Here's a simple video showing you seven basic (and most common) embroidery stitches.
This quick little showcase covers --
- Back Stitch
- Split Stitch
- Stem Stitch
- Chain Stitch
- Blanket Stitch
- Satin Stitch
- French Knot
Recommended books --
- 'The Stitch Bible' by Kate Haxell
- 'Embroidery' by Penny Black, India Flint and Vicki Porter
- 'Doodle Stitching' by Aimee Ray
In this tutorial I used --
- DMC thread/floss,
- A no.7 embroidery needle
- White 100% cotton homespun fabric
- A 125mm/5" round wooden embroidery hoop
**Apologies for the blurred/out-of-focus shots: filming embroidery stitching is very tricky!

Jay Phillips I agree, this is helpful and I have learned from it. I am basically teaching myself embroidery and I prefer the video over a lot of books as I can rewind it and actually see it done. Very nice KZread video.

Omg!!! Me too 😂
I remember really liking embroidery back in school, even bought the cloth for it and everything, but then they split up the class between woodworking, metalworking and textile and wouldn't let guys work with textile. Thus I went into metalworking and neglected the supplies I already had. I might be able to re-learn this stuff thanks to videos like these!

Thank you so much for this simple video! I'm fairly new to embroidery but have done hand sewing and cross stitching for many years! I am trying my hand at embroidery and this has been a huge help to me. I love how you put what each stitch would be good for at the end of each stitch.💗
Perfect video. I’ve been watching numerous videos on these basic stitches and the others haven’t helped with making me feel that I can do it. Yours is simple and direct and easily followed. Thank you so much!
This is a perfect introduction, even for adults learning to embroider! Thank you!

@SarahMcDermott To finish the stem stitch, pull the needle to the back of your embroidery, loop the thread underneath the last few stitched and create a knot by pulling the thread through the loop you've just created. Then simply snip off the excess thread. Hope this helps! :)

Soledad Schuller No worries! I'm glad I could help! :)
Thank you for demonstrating the French knot. I struggle with this one because I always end up pulling the knot all the way through the fabric. I noticed you don't go back down through the original hole, rather you go down through the fabric just next to the spot where you came up and your knot was perfect. Maybe I can stop avoiding the French knot now!
@AmandaRolfe

Lisa Pedrotti You're more than welcome! My first attempt at French Knots was the same as yours - my knot would just go straight through the fabric! Gosh, it was frustrating!! But through trial and error, I eventually got there and so will you! I'm so glad my video has helped you out! Good luck! :)
