I absolutely LOVE sharing these 7 awesome benefits of Tiny Painting! In this real time and beginner friendly lesson, you will not only learn how to paint a tiny pot of geraniums, but you will also discover all of the amazing benefits to painting small. See the 7 reasons below about why I love painting small.

7 BENEFITS OF TINY PAINTING
1. Stress Free - Painting small seems to take away the stress often associated with painting on a large surface.
2. Thumbnail Sizes Help You Identify Big Shapes and Values - It may sound strange to say that you can "see more" with smaller images, but I find that blocking in large shapes and getting values accurate is so much easier with small paintings or studies.
3. Economical - Of course by using smaller surfaces and less pastels, this type of painting is obviously more affordable... which I think adds in to point #1, it takes the stress away!
4. Daily Painting - Since daily painting is so beneficial to improving as an artist, small painting makes this effort more possible!
5. Painterly & Loose Results - You just can't get the amount of detail in a small painting that you can get in a larger piece, and thus you are forced to keep things simple and uncomplicated.... which usually results in more painterly and impressionistic feel.
6. They Make Great Gifts - Tiny painting are so easy to package up and send to a friend or loved one. I like to use clear bags from www.clearbags.com to store my little artworks. I often sandwich them between two pieces of foamcore board to protect them during shipping.
Here is the direct link to the clearbags for tiny-sized paintings. You can get 100 for around $6! www.clearbags.com/2-15-16-x-3...
7. Cute to Display - Since you can create lots of tiny paintings in a relatively short period of time, you have multiple tiny treasures to display on a picture shelf. I like to use tiny easels you can get at craft shops to place them on. Here are some offered on Amazon: amzn.to/36ckDFd
Products:
Unfortunately, the little sanded pastel card I used in this lesson is no longer available from Colourfix. You can of course cut your own from any sanded pastel paper, and if you like the little white border as shown in the video you can simply cut your card slightly larger and tape a border around your surface before painting. You can also use watercolor paper to create tiny watercolor paintings, or even pastel paintings using the method I so often describe in my videos of applying clear gesso to create a sanded surface.
Here are some other options for Pre-Cut cards:
Black Artist Trading Cards - Not a sanded surface, but you could create your own using Liquitex Clear Gesso. See my Product Review video below to learn how. amzn.to/36yUkZX

Susan, Your lessons are the best anywhere! I was unable to paint for a very long time and your videos and tutorials are helping me to get myself back into the saddle again! Todays lesson was especially helpful and I am amazed that anyone can come here and get the most wonderful art education for FREE! I want to thank you for your generosity and always having the artist in mind. I'm on my way to sign up to support you again. I appreciate the business woman in you, that is able to hopefully make a living with your knowledge of art and manage a wonderful business at the same time. Your ability to schedule all you do must also include finance and delegating, product knowledge and so much more. You are an amazing woman, thank you so much.

To one of my favorite artists: Susan. May I ask for your prayers? I know you will because you have a deep love for Jesus. I'm in so much pain from RA and I need desperately need prayer cover for relief. I know it is a crazy request on an artist's YT site, but I hear you when you worship through your words. No shout out on your channel, just a prayer in your heart. (I bought your red barn painting setting in the NC Blue Ridge Mountains.) Thank you, Susan.

Hi Sherry, my heart is close to you sweetheart. I am so sorry you’re going through the pain of this illness. I know it can be debilitating and makes life so hard to manage. I’m going to put you on my prayer board and I’m going to say a prayer for you right now. Our God is so amazing and he loves us so much. “Merciful father God, I lift up Sherry to you in prayer for healing. Please cover her with your love and blessings of health. Restore her physically and let the Holy Spirit Empower her to press on and lean into you! Hold her and heal her in Jesus mighty name! Amen”

Hello, Suzie! Been following your channel for about two months and I can't believe that I didn't know your channel from before! It's amazing! I wanna ask you how to do recomend tackling small sizes pastels painting with portraits? I am fascinated by portraits and really wanted to try and do them on a small size. Any tips?

That’s a great question and thanks for following my channel! I would say many of the same rules apply. I would definitely keep the portraits simple and just focus on the core features. It would also be great to have a little fun and get creative with color and shapes. Here’s a link to some suggestions on doing tiny portraits with watercolor. pin.it/7zLaFv4

Hi sweetie, I’m working out a trade in my Patreon group where artist are agreeing to be paired up to swap paintings. I’ll have to research if there’s a general place to trade tiny paintings with other artists. It’s really a lot of fun to share! And yes, iridescent pastels are awesome!
