7.3 Powerstroke surge on start up. ICP sensor replacement tips and tools

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

The early style ICP sensors are known for leaking oil into the connection causing a romp or idle surge (mostly on cold start). In this video I show a way of removing it without any special tools. Well at least not too many and weird tools and tools that are available at a Harborfreight store.

This may sound crazy but I still remember Bill Hewitt mentioning in his video about DieselTechRon passing away in a car accident and I had never heard of him bcoz I was sooooo into PowertrokeHelp that I didn't really look for anyone else and now, unbelievably we lost Bill too back in October 😢 so sad. I've found others on YT but none that will go into detail like Bill or Ron did, especially Ron. RIP guys, you are truly missed.😢 Sorry, just had to say something. Have a Blessed day 🙏 Jay.

+DieselTechRon 1st the head bolt issues in that they are under torqued and undersized for the configuration. 2nd the heui system in that they use the dirtiest substance oil to power the most delicate system/the fuel system. if your oil gets contaminated you can wipe out a entire set of injectors and hpop. then if u change all out and don't flush the system out perfect then can have problems with next set.

+DieselTechRon also have never had much luck with Mpg with those 6.0 motors but that could just be me. when they run right they run great-not including Mpg for me. but you know your stuff on those way better than me. so again thanks for passing the knowledge down to us. I'm a duramax guy./just cummins motor, dodge trucks suck.

2005 6L Powerstroke (128k miles) So a Sensor , not like other parts in the truck, goes bad over couple of days and it keeps getting worse. That is my situation - over period of one week from barely noticing something started to be wrong in my engine....few days later it was 50% worst and you could hear the engine running and idling up and down...like it could not have made up its mind what to do. I have UNPLUGGED the ICP sensor (which is very easy)...and my friends I can tell you the problem is gone. You may try that too to unplug the sensor it is very easy and quick test. So now I am going to get new ICP sensor...and as Ron says there is a very easy access to to the sensor all you need little bit patience to get the sensor out.;o) YUPIII...the problem after one week finally SOLVED. Thank you KZreadRS it saves some nerves, time and $$$$$$$$ .

is the oil good? maybe remove the icp to see if the cavity is draining if so find the leak. remove one of the gold colored caps on the passenger side to check that cavity. Maybe a duel icp test? I have a video on leaks and dual icp test.

My 2005 VT365 in a International CE200 school bus will start with ICP unplugged just fine. Ordered a new ICP sensor still having the same problem. I will say I ordered a cheaper one from Amazon and did not yet replace the connector. Should I be getting the more expensive sensor from the dealer, replace the connector, or is there something else I should be looking into? Love your channel.
