Great comparison Rob. For 6’s right now I only have ARC and Dasher. I also shoot my ARC in the 110 Switchback. I am shooting 95 SMK’s at 3k FPS. It’s a pretty amazing round for the size of the powder column. My Dasher is at 2930 with Berger 108 BTT’s. Both are extremely accurate cartridges. Unfortunately for my wallet, I also have a 6.5 disease as well. I run a Grendel, a Creed (6.5 Manbun as I like to call it), and the 6.5x47 Lapua. I love both 6 and 6.5 stuff, but if I had to choose just one, it’s the 6.5x47. I shoot the 130 Berger OTM at 2900 and it is stupid easy out to 750 (the longest distance I have available). The Dasher is unbelievable as well. Maybe I’d choose it instead…..Man, I’m glad I don’t have to choose just 1. Anyways, a 6.5 comparison should be next on your list. Would like to see which ones you still have. I’ve watched a lot of your early videos so I know you have at least a couple.

Nice to know I'm not the only 6mm whore out there. 6 ARC, 6 RAT, 6 Dasher, 6X47L, 6 XC, and .243. Love them all but the Dasher is my favorite, it's just so easy to load for and it's accuracy is awesome. Got a little over 3000 rounds out of my last Dasher barrel before it got really hard to clean, accuracy was still 1/2 moa but the throat looked like someone had taken a blow torch to it. 6 ARC and RAT are AR rounds for me and great hunting cartridges, does a number on the yotes. 6X47L was the most difficult for me to get comfortable with but after putting enough rounds down range I came to appreciate it's velocity advantage and found the 115 gr. DTAC hits hard at distance. Good content Rob.

easy choice to choose from these as which can you get factory ammo for at the big box stores. also which has the least recoil but still accurate out to 700to1000 yards, which has easy to get factory reloading components for, seems like the ARC (This is The Way) !!!!! also can hunt with out to practical distances, 95% of hunters, take shots no farther than 200yds

I have a Howa Mini in 6 Arc. I’m having a barrel made for it by bartlein at the moment to get the most I can out of it. I bought most of what was needed for a 6 dasher build but ultimately went with the Arc because I wanted factory options and I really like that 28 grains of varget out of a 26 in barrel will hit 2750 fps for a 108 gr bullet. Varget is expensive and if I can use as little as possible I will. I also went with the Arc over the dasher because I can fit it in a micro action and have a handier package for a multipurpose rifle.

Lots of people are setting up 26" and 28" prs rifles in 6 ARC now. Running varget with a 28" Barrel you can drive 110 grain bullets at 2750 fps and be a good bit below max charge. Also shooters report seeing 4000-6000 rounds of life per barrel. Remember the most important rule of barrel burnout is heat and erosion due to powder flow during ignition. Speed does little to affect barrel life. This is why 223 and 204 ruger barrels can last 5,000+ rounds before changes even though speeds are in excess of 3200 fps. The 6 creedmoor will be burning about 38-39 grains of 4831sc to push a 110 gr bullet at about 2750 fps with a 24" barrel. The 6 ARC with a 28" barrel will do the same 2700-2750 fps but with only 28 grains of varget. That's a 35% increase in powder for zero increase in speed. Just something to consider if you expect round counts to be high.

You are on the right track. I run my 6 creed with the 109 hybrid at 2800. With Lapua brass I am plenty full with the bullet seated down to the doughnut, and at the speed, it is super soft. I see too many people in the PRS world going to small and then really kicking it when all they need to do is step up to a GT or a 6cm. Everyone has their opinion, but when I get to a match with some farther stages, I will find some BR and dasher on the ground with blown primers.

Perhaps didn’t ask my question very well. With regards to performance the bullet on target, if everyone at the PRS match is running essentially the same 25 lbs gamer rig with a Bart/Krieg barrel, impact 737, foundation/MPA/MDT chassis, and pushing the same 105 Berger hybrid 2900-2600 FPS, with similar 0.5 moa dispersion, and sub 25 ES with tight waterlines, is there really a significant performance difference between the 6mm chamberings (using the 308 bolt face), which can significantly influence the score board? Granted, supply chain challenges will always be an uncontrolled variable (the new 6max for instance). Most PRS competitors are all running quality components (lapua/alpha/Peterson brass, Berger bullets, h4350) and regardless of which BR shoulder angle they’ve chosen, there’s often more points lost from natural point of aim, bad wind calls, not finding targets, not spotting misses, wrong target engagement, timing out, etc. Myself and a few friends all ran the same mock PRS stage, and we traded rigs back and fourth with each other as an experiment (6GT, 6BR, 6CM, 6Dasher) and the results were consistently the same; the most talented shooter still cleaned the COF fastest regardless of cartridge. While I agree if I gas up a 6CM pushing a 115 dtac at 3200 fps, barrel life will suffer, however if we’re generally running similar competition loads, I have a difficult time believing cartridge selection plays as large of a role as we think, and we may be tinkering for the sake of tinkering. I found this YT video pretty interesting regarding this topic: kzread.info/dash/bejne/lKCA2qmHdb2ydJM.htmlsi=fASCyXMkGXxp3ER_

I was surprised to find out that none of the top 3 overall PRS competitors last year were running 6BR, 6 Dasher, or 6 ARC. Went into a lot of details as to why there may be a shift in calibers towards the 25s in the near future (which would be great, because then I could get 6mm components easier)

Get the ARC. I had a 243 and ran the numbers, 24" barrel to 24" barrel the arc will keep up with the 243 in terms of hunting performance. I have run the numbers on mine and I the 243 and ARC are neck and neck with the right bullets. The 243 with a 90 grain eld-x holds expansion velocity out to 600 yards. The 6 arc with a 103 grain eld-x holds expansion velocity out to 600 yards but does it with 110 more foot pounds of energy than the 243. I also trust my 6 ARC to hit the target at 600 yards, the 243, not so much. You also save about 15 grains of powder using the arc vs the 243. I love my 243 and will pass it down one day, but it has been replaced.

@brianjazek7769 of course! I'm not saying you can't take a 243 out there to 600 yards, we just are getting into custom Rifle territory there and unless you just really really like the 243 and have a ton of brass, they make a fast twist 243 now. It's called the 6 creedmoor. ;) I'm not gonna lie, I really have been enjoying the 6 ARC so far. I have it set up in a howa mini action but an AR is next on the list. But it's also really nice to have one cartridge, one set of dies, one set of bullets/powder, and be able to run the same factory ammo. For me, being a handloader but wanting to avoid going full custom, the 6 ARC and 6 Creedmoor make a great pair. A 6 creedmoor will keep a 103 grain eld-x at expansion velocity out to 800 yards. But personally I would load the 90 grain monolithic CX bullets for that. Use that extra power to drive the tougher but less efficient bullets. They would still hold expansion velocity out to 550 yards, but call it 500 yards because when I shoot solids I shoot for structure.
