Good to see new videos again! I rebuilt one of these 2 years ago on my own 2500 Suburban and spared no expense... it only lasted 36k miles before the convertor took the trans out again. I didnt have HP tuners and wish this video was around back then. But now I swapped a 4L80E and not going to have to deal with this fragile trans anymore.

I'm liking the fact I get to see some of the features and functions here. Generally not a fan at all when ppl tune, but it's understandable when a technician does it when they know what they're doing.

Thanks Cuba, It's a very powerful tool. Specially when you're trying to figure out air fuel ratio discrepancy. Paired with a wide band sensor and your scope of choice, you can quickly pinpoint issues with the issue you're trying to diagnose, fuel trims can be difficult to diagnose if you cant really see what you're looking at. It's an awesome tool, a good investment too. In my case, instead of engineers trying to solve our industry transmission issues which are very obvious that never take care of, it's safe to say we can address the issues through this method. Thank you for your comment, it's very valuable.

Hiram, great video. Especially the computer corrections. Which PTC converter do you recommend? 6L90 version? Do you update to the latest GM cal before making TCM adjustments? Thank you for sharing. Just did a service on a 2017 5.3 6L90 with 100K miles. Never been serviced. Filter restricted. Small metal debris field in rear of lower section of pan (1/2 by 2") Trans still a little herky jerky so deleting the DOD and adjusting TC parameters is definitely needed.

It’s better to just replace the 6L80 converter with a 6L90 converter as it’s a much stronger converter than the weak 6L80 converter. I upgraded from the 6L80 converter in my suburban to a 6L90 converter and my transmission shifts as smooth as ice. I also upgraded to a larger trans cooler. I also deleted the AFM system completely.

My stock 2015 Yukon (5.3) has 135k miles on the original TC and trans. I just bought a GM Tow Package Torque converter (dual clutch like the ZL1/CTSV TC, just with 3 bolt holes instead of 6), to replace my stock single clutch TC as preventative maintenance. My trans still shifts like butter and has zero issues. I also bought a Sonnax Zip Kit, the trans go clutch select valves and a TECHM rebuild kit to put in as well. I have HP tuners and will stop the TCC slip 1-4, should get at least another 135k miles out of the TC doing this, we will see how the rest of the trans holds up. This was all about $900 all said and done with OEM trans fluid.

We are currently getting ready to rebuild the 6L90 that has puked. And want to upgrade EVERYTHING in this transmission since it down and we have the transmission out. Including replacing the OEM converter that seems to be one of the leading causes of problems with these 6L transmissions.

rebuild a Gen 5 6l80 7 months ago. Then 3 months later replaced the Techm and put in the the shift kits as you did. But the complaint is when down shifting to a stop, it feels like a braking, especially from 3rd to 2nd. Thought 2 clutch sets were being applied from a cross leak from a sealing rings on the stator, those are new. Maybe the its not exhausting on downshift, but everything air checks. But I did noticed the torque convertor was and stayed hot on the bench. Does the torque engages when down shifting?

With a sudden moderate slam into what I believe is second gear ⚙️. Then drives like normal if still driving like say from parked to a main road where there are no stops. After stopping at stop. No forward movement. Unless light throttle is given ever quick but slow tapping of acceleration pedal will slowing moved forward. Engine light on but says fuel system code. Related to someone trying to steal gas. Damaged something. Not sure if it's related to drivability issue. Currently waiting for warranty process. The drivability issue came on suddenly. One week ago. What do you recommend with a 2017 GMC SIERA . Transmission delay, slams into gear when downshifts into 2nd, spudders , loss of power…. Also what is your location? How much make this transmission right??

I bought a HPTuner and disassembled DOD, E85 because the virtual sensor kept creating a positive feed back loop making the truck run lean. Then I disassembled the slip between 1-4 and increased pressure. Truck runs amazing and the power is fantastic and always ready. I didn’t buy the tuner for extra Hp, I just wanted to eliminate the BS systems.
