glad I could help you. these transmissions are not bad units for the most part. most of the problems are with the valve body or the solenoids which can be serviced in vehicle

Thanks for your video. I just picked up a 2011 Escape for very little money with the same powertrain, and the exact same problem! I found a kit from Transgo which will help with this problem and others with that transmission.

So I am having an issue with my 14 titanium calling for a bad solenoid a stick open. Replaced it and it’s still calling the same code and acting the same.(it won’t go into any lower gears from a stop and will jump to a higher gear, but after I get up to speed and slow down it will down shift) does this sound like a similar issue?

great video, have you even seen this on the 4f27e? i have no reverse and replaced drum and both reverse pistons but im leary about puttin it back together without pulling apart the valve body, a and b solenoids i ohm tested and seemed ok, although when i put 12 volts to them i didnt hear a click

Little hint. Leave the lead frame(you call it a circuit board - it is not) on until you have the VB on the bench. Then no need to worry about the solenoid pins.

Could this be the case if the trans fluid was over filled? Got it drained back out but hear whining and lost reverse. Thanks in advanced for the help.

Hey man, my daughter's car will shift in and out of reverse easily, but reverse will not work. Neutral will not work either. I am able to drive forward though. Her shift bushing seems fine. Any suggestions?

Is there a schematic on the solenoid number/letter order?

Can this issue cause you to lose forward as well as reverse? Or both at the same time?

The 6f35 is a total $#!+show of a transmission! Only part I hate about my Fusion

I have the delayed reverse after the car gets up to temperature. I pulled the valve body and checked for this issue and did not find any damage to the plates or any check balls in the wrong spot. Reliably, when I start the car cold, it goes into reverse normal. When I drive even a short distance and then go to put the car in reverse again, it hesitates and jerks into reverse pretty hard. If I’ve been driving say on the interstate or say from home to work through town, it sometimes will not go into reverse at all and it almost sounds like the reverse clutches are just lightly slipping over the plates. As soon as the car sits and cools down completely, I can put it into reverse smoothly again. I’ve checked fluid, I’ve changed fluid, I’ve changed the valve body, I’ve split the case to inspect for damage to the pistons. I can’t figure this one out.

Sonnex has a rebuild kit for the valve body. After 100k the valves wear and allow flow by the worn valve shaft causing weak engage of clutches. You can also buy a new valve body from for but the same issue will occur in 100 or less k.

I have been trying to research the heck out of this I have a delayed shift from 2-3 and also 4-5 (just not quite as bad) I also have a delayed reverse? what would be the issue here? the separator plate or solenoid as I'm trying to decide?

Just replace the plate.. Replace the Solenoid A... Install Ford factory Fluid and filter... She be good as new...And keep everything clean...I mean hospital clean while the cover is off....

After seeing your video I brought this up to a transmission guy and he did the repair. He gave me the plate and sure enough, the ball broke throw. He replaced it with a new plate and the reverse works however, when I apply too much gas it starts to jerk and sounds like the engine will drop out. What would cause this? Did he not repair it correctly?

you need to reprogram the solenoids if they get changed

I have a 2013 Fusion and I have reverse when it’s cold, but as the car warms up it will slam into reverse. And once it’s at operating temp, I lose reverse completely. Could this be my issue as well?

I would try and push the car when it's in reverse and see if it will roll. if the car will not roll and is acting like it's in park then yes this could be your issue

@@billgoatgarage it’ll roll backwards. That’s how I turn it around some places. I pull up on a grade and put it in reverse and just coast backwards

I am in the process of replacing my transmission valve body on my 2016 Ford Escape titanium 1.6. The reason I am replacing it because I am experiencing delayed shifting and after diving and getting the car warmed up. I would go from park to reverse and it would not engage into reverse. I then would rev the engine up to 2k rpm and all of a sudden it clunks!!! Into reverse. Hopefully this will fix the delayed shifting. Although we I replaced the valve body. I did not have the defect in my gasket as the person in the video has. Let me know if anyone is having the same issue.

Mines starting tripping few weeks ago not reversing, haven’t fixed the issue yet..just changed coils and plugs,got the good plugs

After replacing the transmission valve body, it did not fix the problem. I told the mechanic what was going on with the transmission and he said to replace it, as it could have been any number of things. So that’s what I did. I was lucky enough to find a transmission for the 1.6 for 1600 on eBay with 50k miles and I had it shipped to the mechanic. 800 for the labor, it was a friend.

changed the whole trans and still same problem any idea what the problem is

replacing junk with junk? or bad shift cable or solenoids? do you have codes? what are you changing it in? did you pop the old one open to verify if your plate is good?

Solenoid d stuck on was the code which is the same code with the new trans didn’t open old trans to check it.
