Hikaru's main weakness back then was easily getting bored in longer formats and drawn endgames and 2. nervousness ... He has changed that in recent years , and he once(2-3 years back or so) was rated 3350 in blitz and 3550 in bullet of I'm not wrong

Wesley the true MVP here - he sure saw it coming a long time before but gave Hikaru the room to play that beautiful sequence until the end. That checkmate position and the way he got there is truly something special.

Great game for Hikaru but man, props to Wesley for being a class act. One of my favorite SGMs. Humble yet deadly.
I think the unsung hero of this game is Wesley So for allowing himself to get checkmated in such a glorious fashion instead of simply resigning when he discovered the net... truly world-class.

Yesterday, I felt like Hikaru back then. I played a 95% accuracy 0 blunder 0 mistake caro kann. (40 move game and I’m around 1600 against 1650
That final position is a beauty. Only the king and queen are directly participating in the checkmate, but the entire remaining army is defending the queen.
A GM's inaccuracy, is our inaccuracy to notice that
"H takes G3 stops the attack And Hikaru plays H TAKES G3!!!!!" Thats was a legendary moment.
I'm glad Wesley decided to play until the end, truly a masterpiece.

Today's stare was an 6/10, very focused and took a good look into my soul. Those 2 seconds changed my life forever, I will truly never forget it. However, it could have been even better if it was longer and harder. You should really try next time Gotham, although today's stare was decent, I have seen many others which are far better than the one presented today. Opening the eyes more could have really given a more focused and intriguing look, as well as tightly sealing the lips together and raising the eyebrows. This really shows how serious you are and from today's video, I can see that you definitely weren't. Up your game Gotham, next time I expect better from you.
