671 Blower on a stock engine
This is a car we call Frankncuda and I discuss that the engine is an factory spec engine with over 80,000 miles. Edited by YouCut:youcutapp.page.link/BestEditor

Freyberger says “Do the wrong thing the right way” I love your car man 👍🏼😎
That's awesome! We have a lot in common. I've ran a 6-71 on several stock engines. If you're interested in a street car and keep it under like 5-5 1/2 lbs, they'll hold together just fine. I've experimented several times on several stock engines. Seems like when you bump it up to 8 psi, it WILL shorten the lifespan. 😂 Still, lot of fun to be had running just 5 psi and NOTHING beats the, "WOW!" factor of a blower sticking out there!!!
Yup , ran a 6-71 on a bone stock.1980 Chevy 350 with 90,000 mi. With just headers,280H hydraulic flat tappet cam& kit, 3 angle valve job, stock smog heads. Single Holley 750 vac sec carb, recurred HEI dist...6 psi boost, and.a nasty idle...in a Chevy 1980 Chevy C20 3/4 ton 4 wd pu. Off road/daily driver super reliable!
I have a blown 360, bored and stroked to 408 c.i. Putting out 691 HP in my 1968 Dodge Dart GT Convertible. The car is BRUTAL.
I run an 8-71 on my 383. I added forged internal parts but I am running 10 psi boost, street driven. Cruising at 55 my engine sees a vacuum in the intake of about -8. When I pass someone on the gas 1/2 throttle at 5500 rpm's it has +6 to+8 psi and gets "angry" like the Tasmanian Devil. It will burn the tires at a stop by just a small amount of throttle, brakes on or off. FUN AS HELL to drive with caution!
Agreed!! I have used a 671 on factory 350 and even a 305 Chevy engine with cast everything! Granted the 305 didn't last very long but it was a used 305 junk yard engine and I'm of the opinion a larger displacement engine can withstand the boost of a blower much easier. Oh, I was running 10-12 pounds of boost as well. The 350 would leave 30 ft black marks even if you stomped it at 50 mph!
Loved the video sir! Sweet car and you did a great job on the video and I e watched a lot of them
That car is beautiful! Would never have guessed that under that blower lies a stock 440! 🤪 So cool
Nice combination. Nice car. Thanks for sharing.
i remember meeting you at carlisle a couple years ago. good to see the build is going strong
Good day my friend. Thank you very much so very informative. And a great video Thank you
Common sense is a great thing and goes a long way.
That car would be a lot of fun at a cruise night event. It's too bad you'll have to stop at every gas station while cruising. You can always build a custom fuel cell trailer and draw your gas directly from the fuel cell mounted on the trailer.

So true. But sold the engine and stay tuned for what I stick in the engine bay. Hope I won't need a trailer with a tank full of gas
Fancy schmancy! 👏🚗🔧
Nice
Uncle Tony said " a loose engine is a happy engine " 😁😁
5 psi boost won't hurt a stock engine on a street driven application. I have a Whipple AXO side mount blower on my 5.3 LS truck engine and it was engineered by Whipple to run on a bone stock engine with pump premium. It makes about 5 psi of boost. The ignition map is tuned for boost to keep it from knocking. It has to run colder than stock plugs with smaller than stock gap. I daily drove this setup for 16 years with no issues, then restored the truck and put a top end rebuild in the engine, new oil pump, new timing set and a new Comp cam with totally stock idle and .05" more lift than stock at the valves. The bottom end is still 100% factory original with 127K miles on it and it still runs fine. Granted I do not race the truck, I drive it like a truck and use the extra power for passing and towing. The engine has the stock rev limit at 5500 rpm. One of the things that Whipple said in their FAQ about this system is the boost is not going to prematurely wear out the engine in a street truck application as long as the engine does not see a lot of sustained extreme revs, because it's the revs that wear out the engine, while the stronger low and mid range torque you get from the forced induction is not going to cause undue wear or failure, and I have seen that to be true in my own experience. That said I also would not have any concern for a similar blower system on a stock engine in a street car either, even if the red line was more like 6500 rpm. I'm sure it would run fine at 5 psi boost as long as your ignition is right, your expectations are realistic and you don't abuse the engine.

You're comparing apples to oranges. A stock LS is nothing like this 440 whatsoever.

@@budddove6480 I am not comparing anything. I said any decent engine can take 5 psi of boost without failure if the ignition and fuel are right and your expectations are realistic. There are lots of examples of OEMs doing this on lots of very different engines in different production cars. I talked about my experience doing this to my particular engine. I did not make any comparison.
Open up the ring gap and party
I want the low profile tbs on a stock 350 for my obs it’ll be the learning experience
The problem is the ring gap. It may seize. And you can run 8.5 pound boost on pump gas.
Well the worn out part is better cause it has more ring gap, sweet ride
Great video!!! You answered a lot of questions I’ve been searching for online about my own build. Love to see more videos on this car

What about head gasket there they go lol
Great video thank you. have started researching for a 671 blower build that is not "race" but can be used on the road regularly and found your video very helpful. Just wondering if injection would improve the mileage somewhat. cheers

I feel it monitors the fuel delivery very accurately and so I'm sure it helps mileage but remember it's alot of CFM flowing. The Frankncuda get about 5-6 MPG.

@@cudachris3347 morning chris Thank-you im wanting to fit 6/71 on my ls1 but fit try to fit it as low as i can for visual aspects and a cool look im just going to freshen up bottom end and leave standard just like your build ours is a cruising street car but a little more poke and that sound is priceless.
How many butterflies can we stack on a engine?

Butterflies? Scoops?
Why do pepole say you can't put blower on stock engine? Because most were not around in mid 70s to early 80s when we did it on our street cars. Yes boys and girls. We didn't O ring the block we didn't have the parts you do now. And most factory motors. Yes even the great 454 had between 8-1. Or 9-1. And blowers just to be cool loved it. Yes you came across one now and then at a street race. Then again a 12 second street car was fast. It always makes me laugh that pepole think hot roding or street racing just started. Lol
