Hi Tom. I hate the new and unimproved junk they make these days. If I were rich i wouldn't buy any of them. These old tractors were made to be tough and easy to fix. You take care of them and they take care of you. most of the part's can be machined at home with a lathe and small to mid sized Mill. Thank you for sharing this, love the sound. As always I liked and shared. All my very best.

I'm with you on the old equipment. A. Mechanically inclined farmer could fix anything on the old stuff, but this new stuff leaves the most of us behind with no ability to do much

As a kid I can just barely remember the blacksmith my Dad went to would “sharpen “ plow shares by heating in forge, hammering out on anvil and quenching to harden. Another art only kept alive by people who love it.

I too remember the town blacksmith when I was a child. It's a shame that's a lost art these days

Most 820's and 830's pulled 5 or 6 bottoms. Some 830's pulled 6 bottoms and were traded for 4010's. Boy were there unhappy guys when a 4010 barely handled 5 bottoms.

Friend of mine growing up, his dad had an R and a 4020 gas. Both used a four bottom plow. The R would lap the 4020 every so often and the 4020 needed gas at noon to make it to chore time.

That does not surprise me. You can't beat the efficiency of them old ones.

great video, i fully r😢estored a 820 thirty years ago. has been used a little since then, but i never plowed with it. only burns about a gallon and half of fuel when working it. wont find any new equipment that efficient. great plowing job by your friend, furrows look pretty darn straight. Definitely no guidance system doing that. another lost art!!

I hope that one day I will have the budget to completely restore my John Deere 60. You're right about the Lost arts.

That is a hard pull to do a five bottom plow. And I'm old. Tractors were amazing

I think he will probably do a beardless grain to make hay out of for a year or two and then put it back into alfalfa.

When I was a teenager we had a horse that was an exceptional athlete. He would just go and go and go and didn't seem to get tired. And everybody said the phrase. He's got a lot of heart. That's kind of where I came up with that phrase. That tractor just goes and goes
