I am the proud owner of a couple of bikes, one is the Ninja 650. The reason I bought the bike was the availability of after market parts, the reliability, the look, and the really, the dash was better than the SV and MT, and for something I was going to be looking at a lot when I ride, that was a major consideration. The 6 less hp wasn't a concern, because you know, laws. It's better on the highway with the fairings than the others in the class (with exception of RR660 and CBR650) and I do about 40% commuting on the bike, so that was also a consideration. On the couple of track days I had with it so far, it performs very well and reality is it is capable of far more than what I can get out of it. To have the SV and MT in the S and the Ninja and Z 650's in the C and D is mind boggling. I'll be unsubbing to you because you don't agree with me and you picked bikes that are obviously inferior to mine. (Does anyone still get sarcasm?)

Couldn't agree more. It's my first bike and now 4 months and 3100 miles on it from new, it is a great bike. The engine has smoothened considerably as it wears in. I'm getting 65+ mpg and I love the way it handles and teaches me country twisty up and down cornering on southern Oregon roads. I couldn't ask for more. Yammie: "It doesn't have the power or performance...'blah blah'." I have yet to wring it out of everything it's capable of delivering. For example at 40 mph in 4th gear going up hill, just try rollingo on the throttle and be prepared for some REAL torquey acceleration. Yammie hasn't ridden this bike but makes judgements based on paper specs. For shame. That's ok. We Ninja 650 enthusiasts know better what a great bike this is!

Street triple and cb/r650 are league above with other midweight bikes like z900 mt09 gsxs750. They're not your typical 650 not from HP point of view and not in the same budget range, They're much more expensive and faster with better parts. 650 class always been budget and newer rider friendly bikes which offers the best bang for your buck. 100 plus HP top premium bikes are not what 650 demographic looking for.

There is absolutely no reason to pick mt07 or sv650 over cb650 or street triple. But if budget and accessibility is relevant how aprilla's mid weight supersport bike which fully loaded with all of the bells and whistles on the S tier It's easily going to be the expensive one on the list. @김지운 It's not just about the price but performance as well. 650cc class usually considered for the people who want a bike which is not too fast nor to slow bike and good option to smartly start on and grow with, Without putting yourself in danger. Gsxs750 is a powerful mid weight naked bike. Which can be too much for inexperienced rider. It had 115HP which all tuned down low. Performance wise it matches street triple and mt09 z900 cb650 and all other mid weight naked bikes.

Nah bru. INT 650 and GT 650's are boring compared to the MT-07. Cool if you want a 60's beach cruiser or to own a Bonneville's emaciated-generic-cheap cousin, but if you want solid performance mixed with enough HP to have you riding happy for a few years, I would stay away from Royal Enfield.

The fit and finish you will get from that bike is like a toy. Maybe good for smooth roads but in half-built roads, a 20-30kms stretch will loose your fit. I'm 20 years old and got my first bike a year ago, on May 1st. It's a really old bike from 1993, a Honda NTV 650 (which is similar to the Hawk GT you got in the states) for arround 1200€. A carburated 62°V twin with 60hp and a massive 212kg dry weight (460lbs) I Absolutely love it. Handeling is great for a bike with this much mass, the old engine that needs some sweet pillow talk when starting. And the thing is indestructible. Normally at 50.000 miles most would think a bike wont last much longer. Here the NTV is just bearly run in and is good for 3 to 4 times that. Ive never even heard or read about an NTV with an engine failure. Also its shaft drive with a single swingarm. I dont know why but i love older bikes/cars. just old fashion mechanics and no electronic nick nacks.

Bennet B Yes, you are right about the Honda having better breaks, more power and more advanced suspension, unfortunately the motor sucks. I owned a 1979 CB650 and it had an annoying flat spot in the powerband. Great to know that after 40 years of R&D at Honda that the new model still has a flat spot. On the other hand the SV650 Suzuki is virtually unchanged in 20 years. A top gear roll on in 6th at 100 km./hr. will have the 4 cylinder bikes struggling to keep up. Just think about how good that v twin motor must be to still be competitive after all that time. Your choice flavour of the month by Honda or a proven V twin classic, hard choice !
