Women did not wear knee length dresses in 1877.

There was a woman named Amelia Bloomer who didn't believe woman should wear corsets and Kong dresses. She wore a knee length dresses and to cover her legs, long pants which aloud for more freedom of movement. This was in the 1840s,1850s.There were even satirical cartoons in newspaper s at that time.

@@hildahilpert5018 The photo of "1877 4th july celebrations" IS obviously from the late1930s or early 1940s.

Yes, this pic is not from 1877. Girls did not wear short one either.

@@belleriffraff . . I was thinking late ‘30’s too based on the man’s suit (far right) wearing the light fedora and light leather shoes, he’s dressed to the 9’s ✔
Absolutely fabulous loved them
Wish you would identify. The music being played. Those piano solos are superb.
Third photo has wrong description.😊 Very nice photos👌, thank you very much! 🙏
Some great pics! Thank you.
The last one. I would not have recognized Boston except for Old South Meeting House over at the far left. Much of what is in the photo was burned down in the great fire a few years later.
seeing the man rowing in Boston harbor i thought 2 things..the song, Michael row the boat ashore- it would fit with the men on Yellowstone Lake too. i also thought about the boston tea party(for 1). i thought about the spiritual Dem Bones when i saw the men in the Chicago field museum- the ankle bone's connected to the leg bone. i googled the whole song cuz i couldn't remember it all- i laughed when i read the neck bone's connected to the head bone! the best part is the phrase, Hear the word of the Lord!! thanks for another wonderful picture history lesson!
Fascinating collection. Thank you.
AWESOME THANKS
THAT WAS FANTASTIC/AWESOME TIMEPIECE PHOTOS
Great!!!!
Great Photos!
President Andrew Jackson was photographed at his home The Hermitage outside Nashville Tn. A few months before he died in the 1844 President John Quincy Adams was photographed in 1843.
Great!
The man in the left was our beloved King David KALAKauwa. The first Monarch to circle the world!
The 4th of July picture women didn’t wear such short dresses
The posting at 1:33 , Fourth of July celebrations in South Carolina was not taken in 1877! Look closely at the clothing being worn and you can clearly see the photo was taken in the 1930's. I should not be critical as there are some good photos even though they aren't the oldest.
Always amazes me how there are no obese people to be seen. Imagine if we had taken a totally different path back then, food wise, environment wise.
Was this posted as a joke? These are not anywhere near "the oldest photos ever taken in America". Try the 1850's if you want old photos.

You are very close... According to Harvard University... 1847 in a surgical theatre
TY
love, love!!
Interesting observation.... So I researched it. According to Harvard University... The earliest known US photo is 1847 in a surgical theatre. I could not locate a reliable source for an earlier date in America.

President John Quincy Adams was photographed in 1843. President Andrew Jackson was photographed in 1844 or 45 they are not sure which year. he died June 8, 1845 .
I loved the trip down thru time but your machine needs a recalibration (Ex ample the picture of the 1877 4th of July Celebration - - That has got to be 1940's or a bit later
Love the photos. However there is one photo of people at a gathering in South Carolina labeled 1877 that is clearly from 20th Century.
0:31 September 4, 1882 According to 3 sources On September 4, 1882, the electrical age began. That day, Thomas Edison’s Edison Illuminating Company flipped the switch on his power station on Pearl Street in lower Manhattan, providing electricity to homes at a price comparable to gas. There are power poles in the photos so it was at least after 1882, not 1865
19:34 Those guys up front look like they were about ready to attack the cameraman.
Wall Street wasn't wired for electricity until early in the 1880s.
Lovely photos, but many are mis-identified.
In the photograph at 0:23 you can see the ghost images
❤❤❤❤❤
Photos from 1890 onward I don’t consider very old. 1860 and before - yes - very old. Please post those from 1860’s and before
The plural of person is, 'people', not 'peoples'. The word, 'peoples', means ethnic groups.
Big feet, wonder if she, the Statue of Immigration, can continue saying - give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses, something she never said.
This is NOT a 1877 celebration. Girls and woman did NOT wear short dresses, NO WAY. And the hats are all wrong, too. This is in the 1930's or40"s. Accordingly to you this was only 12 yrs. after the Civil War ended? Where is your source?
Too slow. No need to pause so long between pictures. I gave up due to boredom 👎
LOL … this put together by a millennial? None of these are images made in the first decade of the introduction of photography in America.
pictures are awesome, music is like for a funeral ! gross !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! could not look at all because of music !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! gross !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Having seen the Havasupai women who i gather were Native Americans, can I ask this: for those of us who are not Americans, and probably for some who are, is it possible to show us a photo INCLUDING a basic map of the land that particular nation occupied? Thank you. 😊

The group of people who gathered for 4th of July picnic are not from 1877 as it says. They were wearing shorter dresses small hats. Plus the men's clothing it looks to be after 1900's. 1877 is the Victorian Age. You are correct.
