The little girl was unbearable. Truly an unlikable unloveable unwatchable character who ruins most of the scenes she is in due to terrible scripting that forces her to behave ridiculously and forces Adam driver to do the same, like when he sits around FOR HOURS as it gets dark for no reason because she is doing the same for no reason.

I felt the same about Plane. Not every film has to have a $150m-plus budget, be part of a trilogy, and have a dozen stars. It's nice to see a mid-budget, one-off movie, with a sensible runtime, one big name, and a simple, clear premise. Reminds me of the stuff I grew up watching in the 80s and 90s

Both are incredibly well animated, have incredible soundtracks, are great coming of age stories that take different directions and have really great action scenes. @@panofduluth fair enough. To counter that, however, I don't think a movie needs to have a reason to be made, other than to purely entertain. I for one miss when movies were just made to that end, rather than needing to push any sort of message or even just to build on a larger franchise or universe. I liked that it didn't ask that I watch fifteen other movies just to know what's going on, and further, I can go home from the theater and never worry about it again. I watched it, had fun, and now I can go watch something else, rather than wait for the sequel, or argue with someone online about whether it was woke enough or whatever people do with modern franchises. When I saw the trailer I had all sorts of ideas for cool reveals. First off, they could've just not show any dinos in the trailer, just cut it to make believe it's all generic aliens. Hiding the fact that it's Earth 65 million years ago would've been dope too. Which means, since they revealed everything in the trailer, you could guess the movie doesn't have much going for it.

Agree with you and Jeremy - I was wondering when watching the trailer why it gave away the plot twist, they just could've left us all wondering what "65" meant and kept the dinosaurs in the shadows, revealing them in the actual movie. I kept thinking of that episode in "The Twilight Zone" where (spoiler) people escaping from their oppressive government by leaving on a rocket ship reveal at the end that the planet they'll land on to start over is Earth. The great part about that was for the entire episode you think these are humans on Earth in the future, up until the very end, and this movie could've done the same thing and probably have been just as effective.

I actually really enjoyed this movie. Adam Driver does a lot of the heavy lifting in terms of acting, but it was a really good movie about being a father or a leader. Spoiler alert: It's a shame cos I wasn't expecting much and I found I really enjoyed it. I think it felt like pitch black a bit, or kinda more low key, fairly simple, genuinely didn't know if the certain characters would die. Felt the back story of the daughter was really sad, it was well acted. And I liked the bit at the end as well. Thing is, it's perfectly plausible. You know aliens could've came here visited, found signs of life, as in dinosaurs and like almost get caught in the meteor crashing. I kinda liked it. It felt refreshing. I also don't like tight spaces like caves and the tension was still there and the little girl I felt acted well. So yeah. I think if you go in expecting a lot, it'll disappoint you.

Just got back from seeing this movie, and actually thoroughly enjoyed it. That said, I can see why many were disappointed - it's not a movie for everyone. It's the definition of a cult classic in my mind, doing a handful of things really, really well while potentially dropping the ball on others. I think a lot of people kind of take it too seriously and expect it to be this huge deal and come away disappointed, when it's a perfect example of a director just making the kind of movie they want to make, and viewers watching the kind of movie they want to watch. It was my kind of movie, and I won't begrudge anyone else for not getting into it, so long as they don't call me stupid for watching Adam Driver shoot dinosaurs.

For example, I once imagined what it would be like, if Adam Driver’s character actually was on an alien planet where some of Earth’s dinosaurs got transported to before their mass extinction. In turn, that would explain why the dinosaurs and their ecosystem look so different from anything I know to actually exist in prehistory.

I think about a quarter of the way in, I got really engaged, and was totally into it for the rest of it. I thought the emotional bond formed between him and the girl was very sweet and touching, and I loved the dinosaur sequences a lot. I also loved that it was pretty visceral. There was quite a bit of blood, some broken bones, and that Dino at the end getting turned into ground beef was kinda gnarly. I thought it was very fun and pretty damn intense throughout. It started pretty clunky and slow, but once it just commits to the concept of a survival escape movie, it was awesome. It was the Jurassic World Dominion that I didn’t get. I thought it was great.

Like Driver's infected wound that changed sides once or twice when he reaches for his right side for the wound but they show it being on his left on camera. They go out of their way to show it's infected and have him lie to the girl about it for no reason really. In fact depending on how long they had till being rescued it probably killed him on the rescue ship. Also the berries on the bone spike was basically pointless. She stabbed it in the eye and made it blind and then a geyser immediately killed it. The berries did jack. They should have made the movie a little longer to help flesh out some of the things they brought attention to but were pointless in the end. Still though I enjoyed it for what it was. It wasn't that the hot spring was more effective the second time, it was that the hot spring went off just before the dinosaur went through it so he stopped and avoided it. Then when the spring stopped, the dinosaur moved through. The second time when he was blinded he didn't know where he was standing and therefore was right over it and unable to dodge it.

I know Jeremy normally keeps his videos to sub 10 minutes, but I still think it'd be cool to see him have like a comparison series, like if a particular piece of media has an original book variant, have a video of the Film vs The Book kind of thing. I just thought about it because of his comment about Jurassic Park being both the cop-out and correct answer at the end of the video. I loved the Jurassic Park movie, absolutely adored it. Then a couple years ago I listened to the audiobook of Jurassic Park the movie is based on and my god what a completely different experience. The Jurassic Park book is a legit horror novel and I loved just about every moment of it. The beginning was kinda slow but most books are that way.

I actually really enjoyed this movie but the parts I didn't like were things like the Girl being defiant and stupid at times but super smart in others. They had a dynamic where he lost something, she lost something and when they finally got back to the other half of the ship, they should have let them communicate again instead of keeping that barrier between them. You just always got the feeling that they couldn't get closer or bond because of them not being able to understand each other, so it was just all about the Dinosaurs and getting off the planet. They could have done a lot more if they only tried to add more of the human element. Additional, Sam Raimi helped in this movie, which explains why the Dinos look so good in some of the situations.

I'm still confused if Adam Driver is a time traveler or an alien...? I also thought it would've been cool to have a Planet of The Apes style reveal at the end, but also thought it would've been cheap to steal that iconic moment. I didn't like the alien looking dinosaur in the movie. I think the dino species also lacked diversity. In Jurassic Park we see so many different types, but here there like 5 species recycled throughout the movie. It's a solid 8/10 for me

Went to watch it last night for $5 Tuesday because of the poor review. It was well worth the money, and i would have been perfectly satisfied having paid full LA price (wish it was in Dolby). I felt this movie was actually better than your experience. It was an interesting blend of thriller and family drama, and I really appreciated that Adam Driver's character was good with kids. The action hero archetype is oversaturated by dudes that have no child-friendly sense of humor, but this character felt more human because of it. I do agree, though, that the revelation of the planet being Earth 65 million years ago would have added much more to the story's weight.

This was so heartfelt I cared about them both and want them to make it out of this situation. The fact that Mill's daughter could have passed away while he was in this situation was mind-blowing, his ability to still want to save KOA that's the kind of man I want to be!!!! They could overdo it with the Dinosaurs and Creatures but a great balance between the environment itself is as dangerous as anything else that straight up wanted to eat them Outstanding!!! The focus on the acting and their relationship balanced between the technology and not overdoing the green screen effects, this would have been a great graphic novel. Yes, want to know what happened to them in the end.....

I can't stand so many bad reviews on this movie. It was a GOOD movie, not great, not awesome, just a good family movie. There was action, a relationship between the father figure and daughter and dinosaurs. Why all these people are not satisfied with the simplicity this story brings? It's hard to imagine making a whole fricking movie and not hearing one good thing about it. When I left the cinema I thought it was great, it was so good that I spend the whole time getting home thinking about the story. It was deep, and I could relate to the main character. I thought that they made a great decision to make them communicate by body language rather than words. SPOILER (The scene when they were separated from each other PORTREYS THE WHOLE MOVIE TO ME. Miles runs to the sound of her voice, he wants to save her, but then he fell and began to drown. Through it all he screams her name, at first because he wants to save her, but then because he wants her to save him) I also thought that the two actresses made such a great job. The acting skills are top-notch, I could easily connect to the story because of that. Usually, young actors that act as kid characters seem fake to me, but this was the opposite I was amazed by what they did. If you think it's a bad movie and hasn't seen it yet, I think you will be surprised how good this 'bad' movie is. The last thing that I want to prize is the simplicity of the story and worldbuilding. This is not some crazy-marvel type universe, that has all those aliens and technology that seem all too good to be true. There are just a few tools that are used throughout the story that are easy to understand. I loved the father-daughter relationship and the connection that they had. I was interested in the backstory of Miles and his daughter. I spend a really good time at the cinema and I am glad I have seen '65 millions years ago'
