My Dad called that the eyeball at the end of his finger. Takes awhile to develop. I have it now too. I think it’s necessary when working on old Harleys. Thanks for the video Mike. All the best.

Odeker clamps. My spelling is probably wrong, but I used those not too long ago and had to find out what they were called so I could order some. Anyway, the seat post is actually a pretty complex piece of equipment. Another entertaining and informative video.thank you.

Crazy. I am a mechanic since the 1970s. Tore down, rebuilt, crashed, built up, bought, sold, burnt, flipped literally thousands of bikes. And I enjoyed the heck out of watching an old fart (absolutely no pun intended, I am one myself!!) installing a fckn seat on an old Harley. You, sir, have some magic going in your videos. I was with friends who were watching the woodstock video in the eightees , It didn't realy turn me on...until Sha na na came on ! What a Blast that was ! Anything can be done. I don't know what year you have, but it will need a full length seatpost tube. So , it would need to be before the twin cams. Look into some Harley parts books and see about "Police Seats." They use a short hydraulic shock and they fit on rubber mounts, which don't have a seat tube in their frame.

Only been riding Harleys a few years but I’ve been wrenching on heavy trucks for over ten years. I don’t understand why some guys don’t like worm clamps. Personally whatever you do on a Harley is nothing compared to a heavy truck’s day to day and those clamps work just fine in my world.

What works is what matters. The right size clamp is something a lot of people don't realize. The smaller the diameter, the more accurate the diameter should be. Common sense. You've got experience. I'll listen to your opinion.

Ah, the focal point of all productivity, the very pinnacle of it's compound reason for being - the seat frame's front pivot bolt. All that shapely ironwork, molded to fit the human frame, the mechanical complexity of machined parts all working in harmonic unison for a specific purpose . . . Moving that one bolt, sideways, across the planet's surface in an easily controlled & linear manner - no matter how much meat you dump behind it on a greasy pogo-stick - it will treat both accel & deceleration with equally dismissive aplomb . . . tanked up most the time & rarely seen in daylight, they somehow manage to hold their own, & yours. (Springtime in Sherwood Forest - birds, buds anew, & chattering squirrels holding a nut count : )
