    I don't have a JD, but I find your presentations incredibly interesting and second to none. Thank you John.

    I wish I had that much energy to work as fast as you and your dad. It's too bad about that engine these days the cost of an engine is outrageous.

    Hoping you are not having to eat this one. My current boss is a pilot. About 30 years ago he had a single Comanche. They were near Lansing Michigan when the engine started to develop a miss. As time went on it got worse until finally a load bang. He declared an emergency and was allowed to land at Lansing airport. Upon throttling down the engine locked up. After the plane stop the tower wanted to know the nature of his emergency. Load banging noises in the engine compartment. Crankshaft broke at the center main causing the back two cylinders initially be out of time. Engines last known where about was powering and airboat in Florida.

    That's not good. A 3516 CAT was the most epic broken crank I've seen. Rod,piston and block pieces scattered for 100 yards down the ramp.

    Oh really? Hope not, there is a few around here. The 6.8 had a few years with bad cranks, never heard about these.

    Hello Jon, when the customer recieved the tractor new (with cab) the always experienced some vibrations, wich we couldn’t place a finger on it, we replaced a ringgear in the PQ still no solution… later the crankshaft broke, the engine still running! It must be in 1994/95 I think. In the meantime we recieved a JD service bulletin in wich they refer to broken crankshafts in relation to certain serial numbers! (Long time ago 🫣)

    John, I appreciate you showing this too. I have heard that the crankshaft broke after an overhaul. I assume the crankshaft has also been thoroughly inspected. Any idea what causes these types of fractures?

    Crank was inspected for journal Truness and straightness of the crank. I don't know if they magni Flux every inch of every crank shaft Harmonics, fatigue, spike loads,

    I have a 4020 with hydraulic problems. Sometimes the power steering works, sometimes it doesn't. Sometimes the loader works, sometimes it doesn't. Front pump has good pressure and the pump under the deck plate looks good. Do you have any idea what may be wrong?

    What do you do to get them to work? When they don't work is the front pump very noisy

    No noise, I just park it and wait a few weeks. When the loader stops working it stops right now@@jonstevensmaplegrovefarms3754

    Oh deere . But since there aren't many hrs on, wouldn't this be warranty?

  • @jonstevensmaplegrovefarms3754

    @jonstevensmaplegrovefarms3754

    4 ай бұрын

    No, crankshaft has 13k hrs on it, Our warranty would cover if a bearing spun and the cap was on backwards, or something we did wrong. There is a parts warranty on the pistons, so if a wrist pin, piston or ring broke we would work with the manufacturer to get parts warranty.

    @@AlextheDutchDairyfarmer We rebuilt the engine. The crank shaft was inspected for the journals and straightness. But I don't know if they check every single crank shaft for cracks. That's a time consuming process. And with the amount of Crank shafts that they have to do I can't see them doing it to everyone

    Maybe a bad dampener, had an old 404 that did that n the dampener was bad , can't remember at how many hours deere recommends replacing them , but if was a new motor that wouldn't be it . Sh@t happens 😮

    5 years or 4500 hrs is the recommended time on a dampener. 4 cylinders don't have dampener, but they do have balance shafts or balancer gear box.

    Good eye! That is probably the cleanest 4560 in the state of Mn.. It needed a fan clutch, dampener, couple leaks fixed.
