Bien-Aime (French for beloved) Baraza is a vocalist, songwriter and guitarist. His style of singing is soulful and his songwriting skills celebrated by many.
Since Sauti Sol’s inception in 2006, Bien-Aime has remained active in the group and part of the creation of Sauti Sol two albums: Mwanzo (2008) and Sol Filosofia (2011). Bien-Aime occasionally writes songs for other artists like Elani, Amos & Josh and Wendy Kimani.
He says of songs from Sauti Sol’s first two albums: Mwanzo and Sol Filosofia, “I love to write songs. And women inspire me. My thought process equates songs to women; to an extent I call our songs my women. Lazizi is the hot girl at the bar. Zosi is the good sweet girl who goes to church. Mama Papa and Soma Kijana are the voices of my mother.
“While on stage, these hit singles are among my trophies. Some women like Wera, Subira, Mapacha, Awinja and Asubuhi are wife material-girls who knew me in the hood before the lights, camera and action. They remind me of Sauti Sol days before success and the magical struggle that our music has been. They are show for sacrifice and represent the road we’ve treaded.”
Bien-Aime studied Journalism and Media Studies at the United States International University and graduated in 2011.

This series ya Bien should be mandatory course content for ANY training on entrepreneurship, in music, or any area really. There are just so many things to learn from it. Utafaa kutupea exam at the end of the series, lol.

What he has said it here (...and I remember where he also said in in that Safcom Base show.) The day they launched the album I listened to it on you tube yote. Yooote, 3 times and by the second round for me Sober and Nenda Lote were my tunes. N I noticed in all there albums before, my favs tend to be the songs that people don't immediately pop to. I've always been called out by my friends and peeps on this even in this record. Soo funny that it so happens that Bien and even the Sauti Sol note this. Lakini hizo "aeroplane songs" maze tend to be timeless.

Nenda lote is my favorite Sad song because I can clearly envision the emotions of the song. They have been beautifully portrayed by the words of the song. I may not have experienced divorce, I'm able to empathize. And that makes it my favorite sad song

I know right? The beauty with Saudi Sol is that everyone brings something to the table. They are such a ‘made in heaven’ mix of talent and skill; they complement each other very well but Polycarp tends to be in the background so we sometimes Kirigo forget him. On top of that, he has such a calm demeanour, never wanting to be front and centre.

From this series one would think Bien is the one who writes/comes up with all Sauti Sol songs. I'd love to know the role of the other band members during Songwriting. Like do they write their verses ama one person writes the whole song then assigns the verses to the others. Astar i hope you asked this question.
