Pattipola railway station, located 226.8 km (140.9 mi) from Colombo, is the 66th station on the Main Line. It stands as the highest railway station in Sri Lanka, with an elevation of 1,897.5 meters (6,225 feet) above sea level. The station features a single platform and a second track serving as a siding loop. All trains on the Main Line, including the Podi Menike and Udarata Menike express trains, make a stop at Pattipola Railway Station.

පට්ටිපොල දුම්රිය ස්ථානය යනු ශ්‍රී ලංකාවේ, මුහුදු මට්ටමේ සිට වැඩිම උසකින් පිහිටි දුම්රිය ස්ථානයයි.එය මුහුදු මට්ටමේ සිට 1897m (අඩි 6240) පමණ උසකින් පිහිටි මෙම දුම්රිය ස්ථානය අපේ රටේ මුහුදු මට්ටමේ සිට වැඩිම උසකින් පිහිටි දුම්රිය ස්ථානය වේ.
පට්ටිපොල දුම්රිය ස්ථානය ලොව දුෂ්කරතම දුම්රිය මාර්ග අතරින් 07 වන ස්ථානය හිමිය.එය උඩරට දුම්රිය මාර්ගයෙහි පිහිටි පට්ටිපොල දුම්රිය ස්ථානය අඹේවෙල සහ ඔහිය යන දුම්රිය ස්ථාන දෙකට මැදිව පිහිටා තිබේ.නුවරඑලිය දිස්ත්‍රික්කයේ පිහිටා තිබීම නිසාද යම් යම් කාලගුණික විපර්යාස නිසාද බොහෝ දිනවල සවස 5.00 - 5.30 වන විට අවට පරිසරය මීදුමින් වැසී යන අතර කුඩා වැහි පොදක් ද ඇති කරමින් සැඳෑ අදුර විසින් මේ සුන්දර පරිසරය ගිල ගනී. සාමාන්‍යයෙන් සවස 6 ,7 වන විට 17°c - 16°c තරම් පහල උෂ්ණත්වයක් තිබෙන සුන්දර පට්ටිපොල පාන්දර 3 වන විට 10°c ආසන්න උෂ්ණත්වයක් හෝ ඊටත් අඩු උෂ්ණත්වයකට ළඟා වේ.
