My life advice: don’t ever settle for doing some kind of work that you don’t enjoy. Find your passion and pursue it. You won’t ever be a happy person if you’re stuck in a “job” you hate and just wait to retire. My secret to happiness has been to pursue my dream and not think about monetary success. Trust me, it’s the best way to live life. I am a concert pianist and I know too many musicians and have adult students who are doctors or lawyers, and hate their jobs with a passion. They would have preferred being like me, but got sucked into the mentality that earning money was more important. Earning money will never be a path to happiness. Ask anyone who’s won a lottery. It’s the things that give life meaning which are most important and earning a paycheck at something you despise is a recipe for unhappiness and living an unfulfilled life. I have no intention of ever retiring. That would be the death of me. I would do what I do without compensation and who can say such a thing about their career or job? In the words of a well written book: “Do what you love, the money will come.” Don’t settle for less in life when you can be fulfilled. You don’t want to be 65 and realize you’ve done nothing but be a slave to a corporation and a miserable person. They will drain every ounce of joy and life out of you.

He nailed it. Being super indecisive doesn’t help me but jumping around from job to job trying to see if it’s what I want to do is so tiring and redundant with the letdowns, just wish I found what I loved right out of high school. Turned 35 this year and I still feel like that John Travolta gif. 🤷🏻‍♂️ explore and experience as much as you can in your 20s because people do not treat you the same when you’re 30+ and still looking for what you want in life.

It's rare for anyone to have their passion also be their job too. Even then, it's a job, an obligation that takes time away from your family, friends, and your hobbies. Pick something that you're good at, that you can tolerate, that you can make good money at, and go with it. Bust your butt in your prime years and save/invest as much as you can, then retire early. And the whole "I'm still trying to figure out what I wanna do" thing is not a good thing to reveal to others, especially after 30. They snicker behind your back how wishy washy you are at that age. Even if you don't love your job, just say it's good and keep solidifying your exit plan.

@@steveh5307 I think you are being too harsh but I understand this point of view. I'm 29 years old, I work for a very important company but I don't earn much. I still don't have the slightest idea of who I am, who I want to be and what I want in life, I've never had any passions or dreams, I go to the psychologist, I don't like my job but I think it's okay because it's a situation that we live in many and we cannot sit and wait for the revelation of life. The only things I know is that I like to feel comfortable and be able to buy something that I like every now and then and for these things you need money and many times, unfortunately, money is the answer to many problems so you might as well focus on something that can afford a good profit. I'm not talking about being a millionaire but at least rest assured that it's still a luxury nowadays. Being lost in your late 20's and even in your 30's is perfectly normal and I think after a while you stop telling others "I don't know what to do with my life" then no one will be able to tell you what you want, you'll find out over time, the 'important is to move forward. Still, glad to see I'm not the only one. I hope things can go for the best

I volunteered when 15 now I’m 75. Voluntary work allowed me to only work enough to build a simple house where costs were low. As I earned I extended the house instead of investing. Picked a design which allowed us to do that. My darling wife of 44 yrs didn’t need to work because we we’re likeminded. Had 4 children. Now at this age I’m content with our own home. Solid older car with no computer in it thus low servicing costs. Still do voluntary work so get appreciated each day. No divorces amongst out children...all have their own homes and 3 of the 4 do voluntary work too. Don’t fret over share market or financial collapses. Reckon I’ll still be around another 25yrs.

It seems almost everyone sees life the same way as they go through it, and they almost always see the things they chased in their twenties as a bit of a waste of time but not having recognized it until afterwards. I turned 50 and can't say I have any regrets like that, my husband and I met when we were teenagers starting college so that part of my life has been the same for the last 30 years and only getting better and better, and I think being settled in a relationship was very grounding for the rest of life. I just remembered being really poor in our twenties, and I also remember discovering that getting to certain ages wasn't at all what I thought it would be. In my teens, I thought that by your late 20s, you would be respected as an adult, but even up to the age of 30, people in business still treated us as young kids, which was very surprising. I kind of feel like people don't even take you seriously until you're 35 or older.

this is true, growing up is different from maturing, agewise its reasonable to expect at least some thoughtfullness at 35ish age

Look after your health. Make good friends and enjoy life. Work to live life don't live life at work. Wisdom comes with older age, very good wisdom. Stay young in mind and young in heart and Cherish the good times and happy memories. The Wise Old Owl stays forever young, be kind and good, show respect effection and love. Enjoy the journey of life.

Recurring themes on this channel: 1. Enjoy your time while you're young but also push yourself early on because your potentials are expansive 2. Even as we get older in age, we still feel young inside 3. Set a tone for smart financial decisions in your 20s so that you can enjoy financial freedom in your 30s and beyond 4. You realize the importance of family and friends as you get older 5. I like this interviewer ❤

To these very general questions regarding the meaning of life, either people are not giving honest or well thought out answers. The best advice I received is take care of your mind, your body and your time. Work hard to make a great deal of money and pray that you are lucky to be in the right business, meet the right people, have good experiences and stay healthy. Yes, you have control over many of the situations you are in but luck does play a major factor.

I don’t agree at all. Being in the right “business” means you’re only interested making money. Such an endeavor will never be satisfying to you. It’s more important to find your passion and go with it. I’m a concert pianist and never for a day did I think about it as a way to make money. It’s my life and I would do it without earning a dime from it. I’ve known people like me who gave up on a music career and went to medical school to have a “backup” career at something they don’t actually enjoy, but offers a guaranteed income. They’re usually miserable people who can’t wait to retire and get back to the piano- which is their soul and reason for living. Don’t be a slave to a paycheck or time clock. Your life will be meaningless. What good is your business if you stare at the clock every day waiting to go home or eventually retire? That’s an existence, not a life. I refuse to do that, and have not had any regrets. I managed to end up in America’s most expensive city, so I feel I’ve done the right thing. No regrets.

I'm 41 and the only passion I've found is movies... but I have no desire to make movies or act in them. Thinking of going into real estate and maybe that can be my passion, but feel like that dude in Office Space. If I was a millionaire I'd do nothing lol

What it feels like to be 64 and my advice to my younger self. Feel not a lot diff to when I was 18 tbh except....I wish I had understood how short this life really is but 🎶lah lah lah🎶 even so, it makes sense to get some qualifications while you're young, then spread your wings. Basically, don't waste the tools you are given!! Whoever, first and foremist 😵‍💫 most, be true to yourself. Sending love...you're gonna need it 💜

Don’t look back… woulda, coulda, shoulda… everything happens for a reason. We may not know why… but the Big Man upstairs does. Trust that he allowed that to happen. You might meet someone that’ll blow your mind and be grateful that you didn’t end up with your past love. You never know… I’m 62.

@@pete9688 I KNOW WHy it happened. My “ Stepdad” changed the phone number ! Deliberately. So no calls at his house for me. Blocked him from ever contacting me again.( he lived in a nether state!) oh well he smoked after triple by pass and died not too many years later. So my mother could have kept her long time phone number ! He wasn’t gonna be around long. It had nothing to do with God it had to do with a selfish person my mother married.
