Owners manual says the bridge pins aren't designed to go in all the way to the collar and forcing them in c too much will Crack the bridge owner is lucky he has such a knowledgeable and highly skilled friend.

I think I would've made a test saddle out of wood that was thin enough to go in and out easily and I would know the depth and if the bottom was flat or had a ledge. Then when the wood test saddle was seated securely and all the way down, make a mark on it even with the point where it is exposed. Then you could lay it on the side of the bone saddle and make a small mark just below that point on the bone saddle. Then when it disappears as you are seating it, you would know when it's all the way down. Something like that maybe. It just seemed like you were unsure of when the saddle was completely seated in the slot. But I'm sure that you got the job done correctly.

5:00 As the bridge's top is not flat, the iron wiggles over the top without really transfering the heat. Flattening the bridge with a grinder (it will be thrown away anyhow) will allow the heat to transfer more easily. Plus: The thinner the bridge is, the easier the heat will get through the wood. 8:06 Wouldn't make me all happy ;-)

Great job. If I were trying to fix that, I would probably use router to remove crack and glue in a plug. But I am not skilled to use a router or any of tools you are using, except drill and screw driver :)

Another amazing job, very entertaining, too. I’ve gotta say, though, you sure make me nervous when you’re making those small cuts with the band saw, using your fingers instead of a push stick. I know you ‘now what you’re doing, just would hate to see you accidentally cut one of those digits. 😊 Maybe I missed it, but how did you finish the top of the saddle? Did you have to slope the B string to comp for intonation or anything like that?

could you mark a center line on the saddle before taking the old bridge off? so you have a point of refrence when you cut the slot in the new bridge, or are there other things to account for that makes that impossible? @Rosa String Works.

I don’t know Why Martin Leaves bridge pin holes So tight. Best thing to do Is go to Harbor freight spend five bucks and get you a reamer. Fit your pins as soon as you get your Martin. Saves a lot of trouble.

Probably because the pin holes eventually get a little larger and the pins will go too deep and bury the heads. And so many people don't know that you can reach inside the sound hole and push the pins out from inside. They will use pliers and mess them up. Or worse, they'll use a butter knife and PRY them out! Which of course, leaves indentations in the bridge.

The owner like the action a little high, and he doesn't play UP the neck!!? How easy to please! You'd HATE to work on MY guitars because I like the action low and I use ALL the frets, even for rhythm parts!! So I'll test EVERYTHING, including string bends. Only in the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd strings on my 6-string acoustics. On my electrics I'll bend EVERY string. So fret levels are not easy on my guitars. Just playing open G, C, and D chords won't cut it.

Not gluing the bridge first? Yes more than likely a new bridge will be needed sometime in the future, however wouldn't it be worth at least trying it first? Now, of course, I haven't seen the guitar, but why was the bridge cracked? Dried out, took a knock (which I could well surmise)? Which ever cause it didn't lift the bridge, it was still on nice and tight. Wood slivers to fill the gap then glue X, sand and jobs a good'un

You'd think Martin would pay for this work, having charged 4 grand for the guitar!

Another burned top I so surprised. I haven't watched an RSW video in over a year, and he still hasn't learned how to remove a bridge without tearout or scorching laquer. Ugh! Future guitar fixers beware who you learn from
