Fact: 475 was heading back for some passengers I believe and while it was heading back 475’s driver didn’t pay attention to the tracks and 475 crashed into the excavator ahead and some other train had to pick it up to take it to the repair shed then she was put back in service with a few cracks still.

The backhoe personnel should have re-lined the switch; that's where I would place the responsibility. Fortunately, 475's smokebox door was repaired quickly.

Lovely bell - very American!! British steam engines don't have a bell, they have a whistle instead. This train looks very elegant and like it was made for speed. Great capture!😀

I ve been close to trains they command our respect...even the diesel engines because they are super heavy. In fact hundreds of thousands of pounds...just 1 locomotive alone..and they are about 16 feet tall..at least 10 feet across and about 80 feet long..can hold 5,000 gallon of fuel...hundreds of gallons of oil and antifreeze and are all steel..except for subway and passenger trains....people underestimate how fast a train is if looking at it head on I can see that and 4 wheelers and some dumb truck drivers don't want to wait on them im a smart trucker..I always stop..people should see what a train can do to a dinky passenger car...(car driver) oh I can beat this slow train..im going around these stupid little flashing fancy painted toothpicks....next thing he knows..train is on his ass..like the i.r.s. all you hear is ..OH SHIT!...HOOONNNKK...SCREECH!...BOOM!...over...car is 3/4 of a mile down the track and now looks like a can of catfood..(driver jumped out before impact)..but his pants and underwear will never be the same again.

I live about 30 miles from where it was restored. Watched it on it's first time back on the track. It shone like a new penny and the sound and vision of smoke coming from the engine long before you could actually see it was unreal. To really appreciate it, you need to see it being operated at speed instead of just idling by. In my opinion these old steam engines show the beauty and true engineering. If you ever have the opportunity to drive beside one watch the drive wheels and just how fast they move when operating high speed, it's fascinating.
