60KM Ultra Marathon With Only 8 Weeks Training (The Kepler Challenge)
With just over 8 weeks notice I decided to take on the 60km Kepler Challenge mountain run.
In this video I talk about the run, and how I trained for it only 2 months out.
I’ve loved the preparation for the race just as much as the actual day (maybe more 😬). I’m going to keep this base fitness up and keep getting out in the hills.
Cheers to everyone who supported me along the way

Mate, this was super useful. Thanks!
You did some excellent training!!!!
Awesome job! Just signed up for the shotover moonlight mountain ultramarathon about a week ago. Race is in about 5 weeks. Not a lot of running experience but am loving the journey. Id be lying if i said i wasn't nervous but im sure i will crush it. Happy to just make the finish line!
Awesome video. Makes me want to do it and not want to at the same time
Dude Awesome work, such good advice showing people how you can set audacious goals and achieve but not go overboard on the training. Small Targets, so good. Kudos

Absolutely!
Helpful video! I am eyeing it up for next year and have never run an ultra so it was good to hear your journey. Also keen to try Marchant Ridge as a run, looks grunty. Cheers

Awesome! Good luck with the running might see you out there - I bumped into some other subscribers on Marchant Ridge one afternoon training for Keplar :)
Awesome effort. Great editing

Impressive! I also live in the area and last few years have gone from doing 1km runs to half marathons. Ultra has been something I have wanted to do for a few years now.

You can do it !!!!!
Top effort guys, especially given the timeframe! Those ultras are a true test of not only fitness but nutrition and mental capabilities too. What’s the next one?

Thanks Tania, scheduled in a rest for a few weeks and then tackling the Able Tasman for a mates 40th !!!
A few yrs ago, i did 45kms by myself, it was during covid, so it wasnt a race, just by myself. In 2 weeks, ive an actual ultra race coming up, its 62kms. Training hasnt gone great at all, but i think since this one is an actual race, i can hopfully pull it out of the bag and finish, within the cutoff time of 8.5 hours. Thats around 8.5 mins per km..
Im wondering if the lawn mower incident had any effect on the distance run or training on the lead

the lawnmower is a distant memory - it doesn't seem to have effected my running :)
Thinking about doing a 60km ultra in 58 days. It's not a hill route. I am in two minds! 😅
