    @@Speedytuning besides fuel injectors, what did you do to the car to run e85?did you buy fuel lines for it and what pump do you run?

  • @Speedytuning

    @Speedytuning

    2 жыл бұрын

    @@Thomas-ql7ml we did use -6an fuel lines for both the feed and return, but only because we went with a fuel cell in the trunk. We used an in line aem 420lph fuel pump if I remember correctly. We had an ek coupe that was a turbo b series that made 520hp and it was on e85 using the stock fuel lines, stock rail, and stock regulator. All it had was a fuel pump. Some say the stock fuel lines will give you an issue, but from my experience, I would just go with an e85 compatible fuel pump and injectors that are big enough and also e85 compatible and run the stock lines until they give you an issue. And if you research it there's ways to adapt AN lines to the factory fuel filter and fuel rail as well. There's always ways to do things on a budget

  • @Speedytuning

    @Speedytuning

    2 жыл бұрын

    Thank you!!!! That really means alot and yea it was stock size arps. It never lifted the head. We used a fel pro AutoZone gasket once because it's all we could get at that time in a jam and it didn't last long at all. But towards the end of the season it started to run warm so the head could have been starting to lift but that was after many many pulls passes, and street drives as well. I hope you stay tuned and spread the word because we are a week or 2 away from dropping videos on it's current state and what's in store for the next month or so to get it together for this season. • @Speedytuning

    @Speedytuning

    Жыл бұрын

    Thank you! I appreciate that! Haha for a daily 500hp sounds about right lol. But uh believe it or not the stock valves did much better heat than we thought and the machine shop was impressed as well. But with the regular arp studs we had a tough time keeping the head from lifting so once you show signs of a head gasket issue, just replace it. We kept running the car while it pushed a bit of coolant through the overflow and didn't think about it getting past the gasket to the point where it goes into the cylinders Our last time out we ended up wiping out a couple of bearings because the coolant made it's way into the bottom end. With that it destroyed the crank, and the rods because they saw a little too much heat. It's currently at the machine shop getting everything re done we just need to source a crank. But yea overall the stock valves will take quite a bit, a cam definitely helps and springs and retainers you want to safely rev higher which is where you will get the most power. We made a decent amount of torque but it's common for the D series to not have the most low end power

    @@Speedytuning I appreciate the insight man! I was thinking of overhauling the head anyways just so that I have the experience of working on a head for future builds (haven't done any head mods in the past but want to learn). I've heard that the head gaskets tend to fail on these motors at high boost, but hopefully that won't be a problem if I get the highest compression pistons I can find to run less boost and still get the same amount of power. And I was looking to do 400whp realistically for a daily, so hopefully it won't be as much of an issue! Thanks again for the help

    @@moizzasad1137 definitely subscribe because we will have a video of the entire car as we are build it. We will have an update video soon! We will be going over all of the d2b stuff since we are learning as we go. You can have a bell housing machined to bolt up, or you can buy an adapter plate which is what we did. Then you need a d series clutch and a b series flywheel I believe. But competition makes a d2b twin disc. Then you need the b series starter, axles, mounts etc. And a custom halfshaft bracket to go onto the back of the block which companies online sell them.

    What do you suggest for getting to 550hp safely?

  • @Speedytuning

    @Speedytuning

    Жыл бұрын

    I would personally feel better with a css block but a few good friends of mine are firm believers that an open deck is safe to 500hp compared to a block guard because the block guard adds stress to the cylinders. I do have faith So with that being said if css isn't in the budget I believe it can be done with a stock block. Moving forward I would say rods and Pistons and a cam goes a long way for the little d series but may be possible on a stock cam. Stock valves can do it but I would say you need at least springs and retainers to be able to rev higher safely. Sad part is a d series transmission won't last long at that power level sona d2b would be ideal but a little expensive
