(60 FPS) AX Cup - Master Class - F-Zero GX

Here's a win at the Master Class in F-Zero GX. The game offers you little mercy, here! I first went in with a full top speed, but even with a near perfect go at the first level, I couldn't get out of the 20's in ranking. As soon as I switched to full acceleration, as in this video, I saw results! You can argue that acceleration wins out because you can recover from the speed lost on turns faster and so on, but... there's another aspect to it.
Equipping your machine with a high acceleration gives you a crazy weird speed boost when you take corners with tight turns, whereas you tend to lose speed if you set your machine to a higher top speed. You can see this effect at:

When The blue section is hit (which forces your vehicle to slip and lose traction) you can see my speed jump from the usual max of 1000 km/h to much higher! This happens all the time with tight turns as well. Experts will also "snake" in this game and reach high speeds on straightaways! Yes... it's much like the Mario Kart DS trick that everyone hated. (I don't use it in this video knowingly - too tricky on tricky tracks.)
Speaking of tricky tracks, the AX cup features the tracks from the Arcade version of this game! Consider yourself lucky if you ever see one in person! Anyhoo, you unlock this cup by beating all the GameCube cups on Master Mode, I believe... but that doesn't mean this cup is necessarily harder than the others! Considering it has what the arcade offers (barring one "practice" track of sorts), it's a pretty good mix of difficulty and fun!

Finally! Yes~! I can show F-Zero GX in all its glory! This game NEEDS to be played/seen in 60 frames per second to be believed! To do that here, you must select the 1080p60 or 720p60 options. If you don't see them, try using The Google Chrome browser! (It also appears Internet Explorer works BETTER, surprisingly!)
This video is one of the ultimate stress tests for KZread, and it holds up pretty well! This game is INCREDIBLY fast, and on top of it, I had to upscale the video to qualify for higher bitrate allocation and 60 frames per second (The video was originally captured on a Nintendo Wii using Component cables - 480p 60fps). KZread manages pretty well! There's still quite a bit of blocking even at 1080p, but it's to be expected for such a busy and fast video as this. Pretty much any other video will look just that much better!
If you're not entirely sure what the big deal about 60 fps per second is... basically it means that TWICE as many pictures as usual make up the video. This makes the video a lot smoother in animation, and is most noticeable in fast motion or panning actions.

WhiteKhakis maybe, but the controls and responsiveness of Mario kart are snails compared to the twitch like controls of this underground classic
I remember as a kid being obsessed with this game until the point I got master in all cups, it took me forever but i became a beast! Now I'm playing it on emulator in my pc using an xbox one controller and damn how f. hard it is. Still can't achieve Expert on Emerald cup. Need to resurrect my old skills.

Oy vey, the diamond cup is in my oppinion even far more frustrating then emerald or even AX : P Btw. am I the only one who thinks the AX cup is ridicilously easy...?

Jorge Luna Corona beating the diamond cup on master was the ultimate nightmare. I had to take out so many rivals to win

@Ron P Search for basically any WR snaking or jumper settings videos on F-Zero GX and be familiarized with just how deep F-Zero GX can get. Wipeout has absolutely nothing on advanced GX driving mechanics and routes in terms of depth.

Thanks for uploading this! I have this game on Gamecube but without HDMI it does not look nearly as good as this does. Are you running this on PC via an emulator? If so, what are your PC specs? Do you need a beefy PC? I don't remember this being wide screen either, looks so awesome in 16:9!
first of all your capture was superb such clean smooth 60 FPS , its looks good that wish i was playing . GOD!!!!! is it hard for Nintendo to bring this game on WiiU with this 60 FPS goodness , im playing F-zero , MV & X using wii mode . i wish i can play GX next and for them to make a new F-zero . you had me on the edge of my seat on the lightning track WELL DONE!!!!!

Awesome. Thanks for watching! This game is just way too much fun! Right now they're working on putting Wii games for download for the WiiU, so... one would hazard that perhaps they could do GameCube as well? One can hope! What'd be best, though, is if they came out with a whole 'nother F-Zero game on WiiU! The track in the DLC for Mario Kart shows what kinda love such a treatment can get! Here's hoping!

im still hopping , if they did it to Zelda WW and metroid primes why not this . more demand is likely but hope that FRN on WiiU is making HD GX more possible .

Well the reason your machine loses speed in curves is because you are using a heavy class machine. Heavy machines often tend to lose a lot of speed when going through curves(one of their natural weaknesses). Use a different, lighter machine and you will loose practically no speed when going through curves. To the rest: True there actually is a noticable boost when going through sharp corners, interesting. However as you can see still hardly worth the big dip you get in maxspeed from this setting... It also makes your machine very sensitive, whilst this can be good to get enough handling to get through sharp corners, too much can make it too sensitive and hence hard to controll.

Played this and Mega Man X: Command Mission forever back in the day.
Judging by the speed of the ships, all FZERO ships probably race at Super Phantom or Zen class (if observed through WipEout's speed class system). They're even faster than a typical airliner. Oh and the boost feature in this game? Similar to WipEout 3's "Hyperthrust" feature where you sacrifice shield energy for a huge speed boost.

Actually it is wipeout that faked stuff from F-Zero as F-Zero was around longer then wipeout which appeared for the N64 first.

WipEout was first made on PS1 with a Sega Saturn port later. WipEout was on N64 with WipEout 64, which is just WipEout 2097.

Which would still be long enough after the first version of F-Zero existed for the SNES. F-Zero still existed before wipeout.

Yes! If you have progressive scan enabled with the (now-super-expensive) Component Cables! Or, you can just play the disc on the Wii with the not-so-expensive component cables and enable progressive mode!

No, it does not. However, you can apply the same idea as with the GameCube games: Skip a generation! Wii games can be output in HDMI through a Wii U and is NOT emulated! Mind, this doesn't make them magically a higher resolution (though you can upscale through the Wii U) but there's no better connection for picture quality since you're dropping all the analog wires! Unfortunately, you cannot play GameCube discs on a Wii U. And component cables cost too much/are super rare for the GameCube, so that's why those are played on a Wii with its far more affordable component cable output. GameCube Game = Component output on Wii Wii Game = HDMI output on Wii U

it's also in 60 fields per second even in interlaced mode just doesnt look quite as good cause it needs to be properly converted and there are some deinterlacing errors when you do that

+Old Games (Gameplays e Detonados) I play all these games on consoles. It looks like this one was played on the Nintendo Wii (which natively plays GameCube) with Component cables so I could capture in 480p at 60 fps!

+WhiteKhakis I use component cables as well with my Elgato HD, 480p, 60fps, but once I uploaded it, it just turned to crap on KZread. I do know I need some video software to make it be in 60 fps on YT. I just don't understand about the quality part.

+Airsh Bornely Unfortunately, KZread only allows 60fps for 720p and higher. 480p games that are 60fps get dropped to 30fps. So yes, to get it to work you need to upscale your video capture to a height of 720 or 1080 pixels (while ensuring the program retains the 60 fps) to have KZread recognize it as 60fps. It's lame, but it's how it works.

Oh dear is this really the best quality native Wii can achieve? Playing it over emulator you can really ramp up the quality considerably. It also loads faster too, I noticed the loading time to be quite "slow" compared to what I get via emulator.
