From Mac is a Serial Killer, when Charlie tells Frank, "You can't just torture somebody because you think they're guilty", and Frank goes, "Oh, don't give me that liberal bullsh!t."

Can you imagine it from their point of view. Their show, that had been their personal project for years, was about to be cancelled and they were literally given, by their employers, the choice between axing the show or hiring a-star actor danny devito who had personally indicated his will to contribute to the one-season show. And then they obviously choose to continue the program by bringing him in and he immediately vibes with them and adds to it in fundamental ways and it grows to the next level. Man it's so good how it all turned out. Literally struck gold by having creative showwriters all in the flow of a creative moment and in coordination with each other and then adding the massive boon of an a-list actor who vibes with them all creatively... And now 18 years later it's been each of their main projects. For massive portions of their lives.

Look how excited Danny gets when they talk about going back to work. It must be a lot of fun just to actually create sunny.

I met Danny about 15 years ago at a theater I worked at in Hollywood. Before I got into watching Always Sunny. He was a fantastic guy. Very friendly.

What amazes me about Danny is that despite his age, his comedy feels very fresh. He may not be using the lingo and all that, but he just jumped on a podcast with people 35 years younger than him and he was mixing it up. And what he was saying was funny, interesting, and didn't feel out of touch. He gets it.

Its always Sunny is like the sitcom equivalent of a great band who kept to their guns, never sold out, gained a cult following and are stll releasing total bangers.

Danny's mannerisms and his storytelling is so similar to my dad's that I always have to do a double-take. He's a true treasure.

danny asking for cookies, & then munching down while laughing at his own clips from sunny has provided me so much serotonin on this cold monday morning.

It is remarkable how much pathos Danny is able to provide in that scene with the therapist. so funny and so emotional at the same time. Very few can do that

Wow Danny's memory is astounding. He remembers these stories from decades ago in such detail and even drops specific numbers and dates and names, meanwhile I forget the names of people I worked with a year ago.

Dannys a national treasure. Can't believe the guys 78 years old and still can't wait to shoot the next season of sunny. He loves what he does and loves entertaining, he and Charlie are my favourite on IASIP.

I’ve heard only nice things said about Danny. The scene when he’s watching Mac dance and he gets it is beautiful. I think his unexpectedly touching moments are my favourite.

Danny is such a interesting man. Not even because he's an actor and a big deal. Just because when he says anything I just wanna listen.

“I drove myself and I used the thing” that literally could have been a line in an ep 😂 frank trying to navigate without the ability to see is one of my favourite jokes

right off the bat. the fact danny thought this all might of been a prank is timelessly adorable. we are so lucky to have the gift of Mr DeVito. He is the GOAT and always will be. His "Penguin roll" is so good its messed up that he is a human and not a perfect animated robot who just happens to act like a demon. give him a big hug from all us. He lives forever no matter what.

Honestly Danny has been in so many great works but I think him doing Frank is his masterpiece.

Something Danny really brings to the show is his "background" acting. When that gang is doing some weird shit, singing a song etc. just watch him - often playing along "pretending" he's been part of the joke for years, but clearly not knowing what's actually happening. It's really brilliantly done, and it's got it just be his instincts as a great actor

@@Pattonator14 You can just Google it, it's a well documented story. Danny and Rhea supported her through a brutal childhood. She grew up with undiagnosed OCD and ADHD, then after her Mum encouraged her to do Matilda because it was a story they both loved her Mum died from cancer during filming and never got to see it. She was 8.

He should have won Best Director for that film, it was one of my favorites as a kid, and I've seen it since and it holds up. Great camera work, great acting, wonderful classic story from Roald Dahl.

@J R I'm not sure what Danny DeVito did for the cast. But he and his wife, Rhea Perlman, took care of Mara Wilson while her mother was in the hospital with cancer. He showed Suzie a cut of the movie just before she died because the movie was months away from being released.

I saw Danny at Coachella in 2007 coming out of the crowd after Kings of Leon. I was sitting on the grass smoking on a joint. He gives me a big smile. I tip my joint in his honor. It was a cool moment.

I'm tearing up watching Danny hug the gang when he walks in. He's the egg I needed in these trying times.

Coming out of the couch naked had me on the floor still when I see it kills me...but there are so many of Frank .... perfect cast absolutely perfect all the guests are perfect... definitely one reason why it has lasted so long...I watch the bloopers all the time just looks like so much fun....I'm old enough to remember watching Taxi with my dad and so many movies he had done that because of Danny made it good....

God I love how he comes out the gate with Christmas facts

44:30 my favorite Frank situation he got himself stuck in is when he's hiding in the leather couch listening to see if people are talking bad about him, but he can't breath and he bursts through the sofa naked 🤣

I love that Danny is an old man who they actually respect in real life. It makes it so much weirder and better to watch the show

Danny just dominates that room from the minute he walks in and never lets up, that was a brilliant episode. He may be small in stature but he is a huge character. More Danny please.

I didn't know I could care about somebody as much as I care about Danny Devito without having actually met the man. I absolutely love him. He's just the personification of awesome. I actually get really depressed when I think that he's 78 now. The world will be a much darker place the day it loses Danny Devito. I remember watching Batman Returns when I was like 5 or 6 and his performance as Oswald Cobblepot scared the crap out of me, in a good way. So many movies and shows from my childhood will always hold a special place in my heart because of Danny. Amazing episode guys. I know the character of Frank Reynolds is supposed to be grotesque at times but I still find him such a loveable and strangely wholesome character. You guys are all legends but I hope you know how lucky you are to have gotten to work with him.

Rob saying "there's a voice i grew up with" really hit the nail on the head. Danny has been in tv shows, movies, and voiced countless characters from my childhood, into my adolescences, and now in my adulthood. Not many actors you can say that about.

I love how Danny never let himself be type cast into a certain type of character throughout his career, He's got such range and has never been affraid to try something new. It's amazing to know just how much he loves Sunny and how much he loves playing Frank. Danny is such a jewel and we're so lucky to be alive to experience this show and to experience these decades of success of Mr DeVito. Everything he touches is gold, Thank you Danny for a life time of entertainment

Best chemistry between a cast ever. All of them.

Danny is soo amazing I can tell these guys have such a bond with him, an ya can almost tell he is really the father of the crew who whole heartedly cares for these guys on an off stage. Low key favorite episode is being frank next to the suburbs episode, Love you guys can’t wait till season 16!

Every interview I have seen with Danny has shown that he is extremely well versed in Sunny lore and clearly enjoys making it. You almost never see that in the industry

Frank Reynolds is one of the greatest characters ever created and no one could have elevated it to the level that Danny did.

Danny is so encapsulating. I could listen to him for hours

God I could listen to Danny for HOURS just tell stories of his life, he's so captivating and such an incredible story teller

Having watched all the podcasts, it's so weird not hearing them yell over each other and just listen to Danny Devito. Truly an icon

ridiculously rare too. So many stories about golden shows wherein the main stars despise each other. All these guys are just friends who love and support one another.

My parents are Danny’s age, and I’m in 20s. Seeing Danny still moving around and full of like gives me hope

The cold opening of Frank dangling on the noose while the gang proceeds to not give a crap is the funniest thing I've ever seen on TV.

I love that they let Danny just go and tell his stories. Thanks to Megan and the boys for getting this unique, charming and interesting man onto the podcast. One for the ages.

De Vito was a huge blessing for the show and it’s audience, but he truly blessed those three guys the most. Imagine putting yourself in their shoes, three best friends who decided to come up with this show that ends up attracting De Vito and boom, just like that, not only is you guys creation being performed by one of the elite comedians that have ever graced the camera. You also become best friends with Danny De Vito. You, and your two best friends become incredibly close with him. A delightful and truly transcending person, their love for this guys shines right through their glances
